Always interesting here:  Various businesses are filing paper work with the State of Arizona  for "permission" to reopen.  Seems very wrong to me for the need to request to reopen your business.

anywho: Some businesses are allowed to open, some of the same type of businesses are not allowed to open. No real explanation given to those businesses not allowed to open

Guess what?  those business owners are talking to each other and getting angry.  Go figure that would happen.

Yes, we had a really nice time there! Also Paris, we celebrated my wife's Birthday at the Penensulsa Paris Hotel which has an outstanding restaurant on the top. The Big Theme of this restaurant is a couple flyers that built a bi-plane and proceeded to fly to New York! I GUESS THEY NEVER MADE IT!? But there was an outstanding example of the (full sized) airplane outside on the roof and there was a really nice (Museum Quality) Engine that was made for that aircraft!Inside by our table!
Also had an outstanding View of the Eiffel Tower all lit up at nite!
The Service was absolutely great!!!

I am back to school as of last monday the 24th . The kids show up on the 8th . I have had a class that I was assigned on the last day of June taken away after I spent 3 days of my summer break preparing for the new assignment (Algebra) . Then I was offered a new class in a trade subject and had it taken away(home construction) . Now I have been given another class as of quitting time tuesday in electricity electronics , not my strong suit but after looking at the curriculum and what a previous teacher had done, all night tonight , I think I will be OK to do a decent job . I was also informed today that I will probably be getting a science class to do as early as the first day of classes! Covid and the resulting stay at home Kids have caused a drop in enrollment to the point that classes are being cancelled and I believe teachers on part time contracts are being left without work. I am put in the spot of having to take up the slack. The school division went from a 2 semester system to 5 semesters of 2 classes each to reduce the # of people we and students have daily contact with. Each class is now 2 1/2 hours long to make the hours work. Our admin only learned of the semester change a week ago monday. They are scrambling to make things work . I go tomorrow to buy face shields for each student and enough tools to not have anyone share measuring equipment .

Hello;
I don't know about you but I have been quite happy with all the (PPE) supplies I have purchased recently on "that auction site".
I bought face shields, gloves, and masks! and I know time is of the essence so having all that shipped directly to my house saves me countless hours of frustration trying to go here and there and find empty shelves!!
Of course you may be part of a "school supply" wholesale/retail store that makes it easier!

C.K., life got interesting. :) Hang in there. I can imagine that everything will change several times before they get it figured out.

Seeing all the masked young ones on the sidewalks this week generated a thought... here we stand, at the mercy of our children's faith in grownup rules. Well, your children's anyway. Everyone's. Boy, howdy.

My brother contacted me, fishing to see if I'd head to Iowa to co-drive with him to take a motorcycle to my son in Austin, TX. I'd probably be fine, but I'm not going to chance it. Virginia isn't great, Iowa is really blowing up, and Texas is a mess.

I did hear from my driver who ended up with heart damage. If his next doctor appointment goes well he'll be able to start rehab soon, but no one knows if he'll ever be able to get back in the cab due to his medication. The other two who got sick are back on the job, but both were out for over a month.

We still struggle here in AZ with opening up businesses..    Schools is a whole different game.

The virus  bench marks set for schools to reopen was not good for many teachers and staff.  Many have called in sick or taken a 1 year unpaid leave from the jobs because of Wuhan flu worries.  AZ already deals with a teacher shortage, so now it is worse.  Tough for parents and school staff

My brothers wife flew to CT to stay with their daughter for a while.  Daughter was worried with increase of Wuhan flu in Tempe AZ...  which is not true.  So i figure there is more to the story than the niece is telling me. Plus her mother lives 45 miles away from Tempe AZ. My brother stayed in AZ since he has a job here.

Well , just finished a third week of teaching and things are pretty good so far . There are 2 confirmed cases in 2 elementary schools and 3 in separate high schools in the other school system . We have very strict guidelines and the students are all taking it well . I do not have to remind anyone to wash hands or wear a mask , they are all looking out for each other . Students eat lunch in the morning classroom and then go to the afternoon class . Each grade enters the building through a different entrance . class times are staggered and only 2 classes a day. We are limiting students exposure to each other down to the kids in their 2 classes . We have a system in place to remove kids from class if they are showing symptoms and place them in a room until they are taken home . Part of their being allowed back is a covid test confirming good health .Classroom seating plans are on file with the main computer with access by the health dept. if the need arises to determine who may have exposure to speed up tracking . It has been a lot of work and adjustment , but it allows us to not teach online which frankly does not work . As a backup we have all set up an online classroom in the event that we get sent back to online learning . Of the students who have chosen online programming (everyone was given the option) the attendance rate is about 30% with a teacher student ratio of about 67:1  .

I went to the drag strip today to an all Ford show.  This was the first auto event I have attended this year.   I am trying to sell the Ranger pickup I built last winter and this event brought out a lot of potential buyers.  I found a prime parking space with a shade tree and tried to stay off by myself while I was there. Lots of lookers but no buyers.   When I did go to areas where there were more people I wore my face mask.  I do not recall seeing anyone else with a face mask.  The area where I live has a very high rate of infections and hospitalizations currently.  There seems to be a general feeling of indifference to the virus here despite all of deaths and sickness.

I would agree with your assessment John on the peoples thoughts on the Chinese virus. People are slap tired of restrictions.

With that said, I am glad you wear your mask.  At my work place the mask numbers worn has dropped. I wear a face  covering around my neck all day at work. I cover up if I am leaving my direct work area.  A few folks have not worn a mask at work , refuse to

My wife and i still avoid large event crowds, although there are few car related  events to visit.  A feww local restaurants is all we visit besides the needed food stores or home improvement store.

Arizona has seen a 1 % up tick in positive case numbers per 100k capita , although we are still low at 4% as I recall.

3 weeks ago, I did receive the annual flu shot.  Seems a bit unneeded since I wear a mask, I am not around many people.  If the mask is to stop transmitting the Chinese virus , it should stop the regular flu virus too?

"If the mask is to stop transmitting the Chinese virus , it should stop the regular flu virus too?" That makes sense to me. From what I have read, the mask is anywhere from 10 to 60 % effective. Not being around people should be our biggest asset. I can't remember the last time I had the flu. I like it that way. :)

My employer implemented a policy by which employees need to take their own temp and answer a series of health-related questions before going into one of our workplaces. I'm affected, but because I don't have to go into the office that often I've only had to use the app once so far.

I wear a mask all day and so do my students. With 800 people in the same building it wouldnt take long to spread if someone came to school with the virus
