Joe,

Perhaps I did misunderstand you , but this brought out a very important item on the design - build   of the vehicle = safety and the needed equipment

I just want to  make sure we  are  all on the same page here.

There has been many ideas batted around for this project.  Many different engine  & transmission ideas were put forth.  The difference  is we are not building a rat-rod type of vehicle.  This vehicle  must pass a safety  tech inspection at a track.

The reason I suggested the multi-pattern bell is for the use of Pontiac - Buick - Olds motors with  that common bell design they share. The converter would need adjustments for each engine for the crank shaft pilot.  You will need a stall speed converter to fit the engine crankshaft pilot  and the cost can  be 400 dollars and higher  just for that converter

Now for an unsolicited opinion , I do not like the bolt on JW type of bell housings.  I do not feel they are strong enough bolted onto the pump of the transmission.
