We had a couple of v8 powered trikes in the shop this week

Boos Hoss  and a V8 Choppers trike.

The V8 chopper brand has a real nice design rear suspension it.. narrowed 9 inch Ford differential

A lot going on in this photo of the V8 Chopper trike.. you can see the suspension on the bike.

Setup is very similar to a drag race suspension.

Ladder bar, coil over shocks..

Track width from outside edge  of the tires is about 43 inches.

I would think that the percentage of unsprung weight on that bike would be high

I would agree , when you look at the total weight of the trike.

This trike has a power glide in it...   imagine a trike with lots of motor... tranz-brake , big stall converter.

Front Forks on the V8 chopper were inverted design

We were less impressed with the design of the Boss trike rear suspension.

Fuel tanks on both trikes were way to small for a guy like me that gets out and goes long distances.

UGLY OLDS

It almost seems those would be harder to ride than a "regular" bike  :?   Specially in the rain...

wait a second.....  how did you get it up on a drive on ramp lift???/ with 3 wheels????

munchr

A mate here in aus is building his own take on a v8 trike.

it is a brand new 600hp 427 small block with heaps of eng mods, runs into an alfa 5 speed transaxle, air bagged, 70ltr fuel tank, air clutch & H shift control with a foot gear shifter. Lots of high tech & well thought out stuff, all made in house at his shop by himself.

should hit the road in about a month.
