Quote from: "enjenjo"I mentioned this truck a couple months ago, the owner brought it over yesterday to redo. Check the captions. More later

I think I have the sister to that truck or at least it was molested by a member of the immediate family.  It would be hard to believe if it weren't in pictures.

Later Man...
It ain\'t easy bein\' different, but I still like it...

Frank,

How about you send some of that ambition that you have in excess over this direction.

There is no excess, I have to fight for every morsel.

Here's how things went yesterday. First thing in the morning, I decided to get a driveshaft in it. I installed a yoke in the trans, measured for a shaft, and came up with 53". So I measured the old shaft, 53", but it had the wrong yoke on it. Also, neither U joint was right. I figured out that if I reversed the shaft end to end, the rear yoke would fit, but the front yoke I had would not fit the now front U joint. So I dug throughout my bucket of yokes, and found one that would fit the trans, and the Ujoint I had. I washed it up, bead blasted it, and found the plug in the back of the yoke was missing. Went to the parts store to get a plug, and after 20 minutes of waiting, found they didn't have the right size plug. Drove the the parts store in the next town, spent 10 minutes explaining to an idiot what a Welch plug was, only to find they didn't have one either. So, back home, look through my box of plugs, find one that was too big, silver solder it to a mandrill, turn it on the lathe to the correct size, only to fins I went a bit too far   No more plugs here, so I removed the mandrill, and peened the plug on an anvil until it was the right size. Installed the plug, painted and installed the yoke on the driveshaft, installed the driveshaft in the truck, only to find it was too short now.  Remeasured the length I needed, and came up with 55 1/2" this time.  So, back out in the barn, go through the driveshaft pile, and find one with the correct yokes, and the right length. Clean and paint, change over the Ujoints and slip yoke, and get the shaft in, finally! Only took three hours!

Next onto the brake pedal, which was a whole new can of worms.

That's good. For me to drive to Swanton, go through your driveshafts, drive home and type a message about it would have taken me three days. Are you goiing to pull the BBQ trailer with it to Kalamazoo? GPster
