Need some advice, help.

The decision has been made to take my 58 to the new home in Florida.

The new company will pay for two cars to be moved, so we are going to have them move my kids Jeep.  My wife is driving hers down.  So I have my Accaida and the 58 but I assume they are going to use a normal car hauler, not sure if it would be a good idea to let them move the 58 or not?

:-o Of course not sure why I worried about the 58, my Accaida is worth about 4 times the 58

I am contimplating a couple of different options to get the car to Tampa.

1) Use a car hauler, any recommendations on "classic" car haulers, who to use and who to avoid.

2) I am also thinking about renting a car trailer from U-Haul or Ryder and dragging the 58 down behind my Accadia.

3) Rent a small truck and car trailer from U-Haul etc.. and let the new company move my Accaida down.

What kind of vehicle is an Accadia, anyway? Does it have a towing package and the capacity to pull a 2400 pound tandem axle trailer with a 3800 pound tuna boat on board? Do you have a weight distribution hitch?

Those U-haul trailers are clunky at best in my opinion and are only equipped with surge brakes last I looked.

Nonetheless, towing something yourself will depend on what your "tow" rig is rated for.

A good friend will come and bail you out of jail...but, a true friend will be sitting next to you saying. "Wow...that was fun!"

You drive the '58 down.  If the car hauler screws up the daily driver it will be easier to have fixed.

It's a GMC Accadia, the new replacement for the Envoy.

It has a hitch, but I do not know what kind of specs are on it...

I will look into that.

Thanks for the tip

Try Uship.com.  There are a lot of people going back a forth to Florida that could handle the job. Most are properly insured, but make sure you ask.

If you are picking up the tab, remember that rental trucks and trailers coming into Florida are expensive because the rental folks end up with a glut of them down here.  If you want the '58 hauled I would check with Ben D. over on H.A.M.B.  A few years back he brought my '53 Plymouth from Texas to his dad's house in Sarasota (just south of Tampa) for what I thought was a good price.  I picked up the Plymouth there and drove it home to my house.

I knew there was a guy on the HAMB board that everyone raved about, I will contact Ben D.  I also contacted horseless carriage to get a quote.

I am hoping I can negotiate with the company for them to pay part or all of the tab.

We will see how that goes.
