info on H/F hydraulic shop press

Has any one used one?
Are they junk or just not bad?

I got a 20 ton that I'm happy with.  The unhappy part is I got the 20 to also use the bottle jack in my press brake...................



.......... and when we were putting the sbc in Shawn's Z he used it while I was on the phone and not watching him to bend a thick piece of metal and it bent the top up into a bow  :cry: .  The picture is an old one.  The bottom, brake part, still seems to be straight, but might have a slight bow.  My old jack wouldn't have done that.

I've used 2 of their long rams on a cherry picker I made.  The first one finally quit working after some time, but it wasn't used that much.

I wouldn't get anything under the 20 ton if I had to get another one.

I have their 12 ton model, works fine.
it needs a few more adjustment holes, but nothing I can't get around

I think thats the one I have too.. The only reason I bought it was we were doing ball joints on a buddys ranger 4x4 and the local mom and pop machine shop parts house hit us for 65 bucks to press the joints in .. hell the press was only a little over a 100.00

thats what I use mine for, ball joints, u joints, control arm bushings, etc.

I could have used one of these yesterday though,no matter what the brand. I was replacing the idler arm bush in my 66 Mustang ,and using one of my bench vices,this particular vice was some 50 plus years old ,as I had used it as a kid and "inherited" it. With some 25mm to go the vice snapped. The job was completed luckily with my second unit and with the help of an extension pipe on the handle bar,some  more WD-40,and gentle tapping. A press is the next item for a place in my shed ........Frank.

I got a 20 ton about 1990.
Worked fine until I sold it in 2004 when I moved.

Bought another 20 ton about 18 months ago, it's working fine as well.


I does look like the newer model is not as tall and some of the frame metal is smaller in size than the old press.
