Ok kids here the deal with with the distributor fitment in the roadster.. Aint no rocket science and the dizzy dont need all these pieces so I got to cuttin and makin stuff fit and heres how it went .. So follow closely and you will see how i cut the housing to get the * thing out and I cut the new one in the vise with a hacksaw so it was better yet. If you look at the housing you can see that the part I cut for removal is held in place with one of the spring loaded hold downs. The distributor doesnt even know its cut loose. My thinking is for 40 bucks for a replacement as opposed to over 200 plus a coil and a ballast resistor i could have another one of these in the trunk ready to go but why.. It would have to take out the the bushings and housing not to be re build able..
Ok  I cane remove it now easily and with out jacking up the tranny and that didnt work anyway :)
:?:  :?:  :?:
Any questions.

it'll will be interesting to see how long it laats. you might experience cap movement and then again maybe not
Some days it\'s not worth chewing through the restraints.

Well jack its like this.. Well over 2 3rds of the circumference where the cap mounts remains and I cant see it moving any where. Also my other thought was to make a plate with some small screws to re attach the piece I removed to the housing after installation but my 2nd thought was the hell with it it dont need it..  Keep in mind too that that was the distributor i had in the car not the one thats in it now. The one thats in now has a lot nicer cut.. :D

i think i'd seal the gap with something but i don't see any reason it won't work.

the cap ain't going anywhere, the body is holding it down
The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But it\'s still on my list

looks like somebody converted a est distributor to an early non-est ...
that'd be where the 4 wire pigtail comes out.

it's NOT a water drain

that doesnt splain the other one thats older and never been touched with the same hole  :?: .. I also saw one on ebay just like em  :?:  :?: regardless i dont think its gonna hurt a thing and im not worried about it :D Thats the least of my worries ........Im really worried more about what happened to global warming cause im quite sure that michigan has reentered the ice age.. Ive been searching the net for a snow tire and training wheels and a cab for the harley.   Ill prolly have to put heat in it too. And in the roadster.. Im sure glad im on high ground cause when this crap melts its not gonna be pretty in a lot of places..

Bugpac

could put a little silicone on the piece for final install, that would help hold it in place well...
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left.

I just hope I'm behind you on the highway when your dizzy falls out and bounces off into the weeds. You know,,, with a chainsaw and an old shoe box you coulda made a nice little home for your dizztributor.

I know what you mean about the lack of global warming. I had to wear my jacket AND gloves for my easter ride, of course I took the liners out of the gloves, but still...... Jbird 8)

I use 3M fast Window Urethane instead of the silicone. It's messy but sets up quick and really holds.. But this idea gets my vote. If needed you can pull the cap and give that little extra piece a tug or slice it off with a razor knife.

UGLY OLDS

What the heck Dave ...Be a MAN  :!:  :!:    SHOW  those guys ..      Leave the cut off piece out ...Just use 3 hold down screws....Take it fer a ride .....It's just one less part to fall off.....With your luck a rear tire will find it for ya some where down the road......

By the way ...Neat tank on the front ...Is that for oil  :?:  :?:
