Hi all,

I've got a bent inner tie rod end on the Mustang rack and pinion on my 33 Chevy.  I was going to switch it for one out of a spare rack I have but I can't see how to remove it.  It appears to have a pin or a plug staked into it, but it doesn't have a screw head or a hex or anything.  How do these come apart?

thanks in advance.

To the world you\'re just one person; but to one person, you might be the world.

You have to drill the top of the pin out, then grab the tie rod retainer with a wrench (don't marr it too bad) and it will unscrew.  When you put the new one on the retainer can be put on with a good grade of Locktite, preferably the Red stuff.  It can also be tacked with a small weld, but it has to be a small spot, don't overheat.

when I replaced mine I used the new kind without the pin!
