Newer car stuff... Has anyone tried using hose clamps to replace cv joint boot clamps, will they provide enough pressure to seal the boot? I replaced the hub on my S-10, must have disturbed the cv boot enough at the band clamp that it has started spewing grease, need to re-clamp the boot.... Is a standard cv boot clamp and clamping tool is the only way to go?

Use 1/16th welding wire.   Two turns, twitch the ends with pliers. Cut off the tail about 1/2" long, then fold it tight around the axle, against the direction of rotation.  Whole operation takes about half a minute.
