click off center on the photo and it will start to spin...

this is a surplus store i go to.. and it would be great for car show fotogs to be able to do this at shows.. for everybody to view later...

i even have a really crazy idea...   the flying wire cam .. like is used at football games... use that at the rose parade... so the complete action of the floats or an entire song each marching band plays is recorded for web playback later... instead of the talking heads bantering and babbling about nothing......

Well, think part of the reason most internet photogs don't provide that type of show is economics.

Good video equipment is a bit more expensive than still pics.

The time spent in recording the video and then possibly editiing the video is an expense.

Storage of the very large video files which eat up online storage is a major cost.

Serving online videos is a bandwidth and server resource hog and a major expense.

Aside from the time and economic expense I'd imagine most photogs would really like to produce such results for surfers to view.

Course some of us like to do silly things on the side like this http://goldmonkey.org/

Wayne, I didn't open the picture because it asked me to save it to my hard drive and I'm extremely skeptical of things like that.  Is it like the interior pictures on this camping trailer site that have 360 degree pictures that lets you control what you look at?

George, I didn't realize you had a new forum. :D I skimmed thru it and it looks much better than your previous one.  No offense meant against your old one...this one's just much better.   It's always nice to visit different forums to see what's going on.

Yeah, Waynes pic thing was a 360 degree movie from a point, which in the car show pic world would be mainly used for interior shots which I think would be a bit difficult to do very often with most cars.

Then again the thought was also there to do a move the camera around the subject so you spin the pic to look at all sides, top and bottom of one vehicle. Another very difficult procedure in the real world.

Really nice tech and I'm sure someone is gonna make a killer application out of it someday. I never really thought Utube would take off, but some folks do seem to like it.

Anyhow the more I thought about it, I hope my response wasn't being taken wrong, I was only half serious and tongue in cheek when I responded to Waynes post.

Heh,heh, George, Thanks for checking out my little forum. It's not really for public consumption. The forum  is kind of a Team Smart thing for folks not into cars who share a common interest in a boycott of aruba.

Actually the forum itself is just a frontend to a chat program which is the real purpose there, the Gold Monkey Chat Bar is kind of a nightly online group therapy session that I am the bartender for.

More truly useless info for folks to get a chuckle out of. :)

Yea I could not open it either. This is due to the fact that it is a .mov file and I do not have Apple's Quicktime movie player on my computer. I am guessing that is the same reason you can not open it.

Dave

I opened it and it was pretty cool. Yes you need quick time ..
Dave

well.... i did post it before i really thought about it...

lets spin the cars.... not with smoking tires... but on a trailer with a built in rotating turntable....

the curved sides drop down from transport position...like navy fighter wings after the trailer wheels are removed and it is dropped to the ground... the wings are to hide the sides of the trailer and to stabilize it for off center loads when spining the car...

the arc of the trailer is shallow... so low rods and rides can drive on..  this is why i want to remove the wheels and drop the frame right on the ground...   maybe using 4 of the  hand crank legs that flip over out of the way.... i guess ill draw it up...

wayne.. thinker before typer...

Some of the real estate companies up here use that type camera for a "Virtual Tour" of a house for sale.
It sure is a lot better than a bunch of small pictures.
