A company named Cole Hersee sells a "Latching Solenoid" in their catalogue.  This is the web site which shows the specifications for # 24200.  http://www.colehersee.com/catalog_top/index.htm

I think this would be an ideal remote kill switch for any 12 volt system.  Does anyone know where I can buy this or similar product and what would the price be?

You can get it through Napa in their Echlin line. The part number is ST90 http://www.napaonline.com/MasterPages/NOLMaster.aspx?PageId=470&LineCode=ECH&PartNumber=ST90&Description=Starter+Solenoid+Switch Online it shows as being $68.99

You might also try a place that sells motorhome parts as these are used on motorhomes to supply voltage to the secondary battery system for charging purposes.
