have been offered a '53 Chevy 2dr post sedan with a 216ci Six with a Rajo conversion. I had heard of Rajo intakes and heads for 4 bangers but never for a Six. The only info I can find is on Speedy Bill's museum website here:

The car is solid and straight but I really don't have much interest in it. I would probably end up switching out the motor and selling it.

SO, who knows about Rajo conversions? Is it really as rare on this 216 as it seems it is in internet land? Anyone have a value on something like this?

It is a really neat set up. I just really need to justify to myself if it is worth buying yet another car.

This is a disease and we are all sick.

I think there might be some mis-information here (my part or yours). I believe a '53 should have a 235 in it. The heads were odd ball looking on the '53s (and maybe '54s) in that the valve covers bolted on the old way. If it is a 216 it would be a "Babbitt Pounder" and oil pressure would be minimal. Also the '53s and '54s had an odd water pump and it was only used those years. I had a '53 and I came up with this information to work on mine so it might not be totally correct but from the old days I seem to remember the 235s being used in cars with automatic transmissions starting in '51 and all the cars got them in '53. I'd explore around the "Stovebolt" pages and nail it down. GPster

Yes it's rare. Someone must have switched the 216 into that 53. sounds like a good engine for a modified.

Is it a Rajo conversion, including a Rajo cylinder head,

or "just" a Rajo intake manifold on a regular head ????

I went ahead and made a new post since I couldn't change the title of this one.
This is the new full story post about the car....
