I also posted this under the 974 thread.

They are presently in the short line to run. The hydraulic clutch is not working and so they will fire the engine and pull it back into gear when Sum pushes the car away from the starting line. Hooley will then run it through the gears shifting without being able to use the clutch. He was a truck driver for a time and so that part should go okay. I am a little concerned about him getting it into low gear on the push off.

You should be able to check the results on the SCTA website later this evening. http://www.scta-bni.org/

I think after you post a few times it will then allow you t add a link to your post.

Here is the link to the results page.  They usually update it late in the evening.  I am checking it for news every few minuets.    http://www.scta-bni.org/SCTA-NewWeb/Bonneville/SpeedWeek_07/results.htm

Just talked to Hooley.   They are in line to run in the morning.  They did make a partial pass today but the engine is using more fuel this year and the gas mileage is not good.  They came up a little short on fuel to make a complete run.

The tank is full for the run in the morning.

He did manage to run it through the gears without clutching.

Hammer down Hooley.

WOW  Hooley is in impound.  He went 238 MPH.  Just enough to break his old record.  Not as fast as we had planned but he may be able to step it up some on the back up.  They have about another hour to work on the car and then they have the rest of the day off.  The will do the back up run first thing in the morning.  Every thing seems to be okay.  Let us all hope the weather holds.

Congrats to Hooley and the team for staying at it and all of there hard work.

Wow  :P

Good Job!

Did they get the clutch working? or did he break the record with no clutch?

I was there his first year when he went 200 MPH and then started slowing down. Remind him that he can use the whole length. He's not saving 4th gear for his back-up run is he? GPster
