Worked on the car today, got the old engine out, and the new one in, bolted down. Tomorrow I can start hanging accessories.

I'm told the students could not figure how to get the engine out, they had removed the motor mounts, and dropped the engine down, where it hit the steering, they wanted to pull the crossmember. I lifted it up a couple inches and it came right out.

Fired it up today. I have a leak on the power steering return line, everything else seems ok.

I leave for Mo wednesday.

Well, it's done. After fixing the PS line, I started it and let it run for a while, and it started overheating. Everything was new, so I was a bit stumped. Then it dawned on me, that the pump on the new engine was set up for a V belt, and I had used a Serpentine belt. Sure enough, it was running the pump backwards. I was going to use the pump off the old engine, but it was the wrong one too! That explains why it kept overheating. A trip to the parts store for the right pump, and it purrs like a kitten. I leave for Mo and the HAMB drags Wednesday morning.

Made it home last night, good to sleep in your own bed.

I paced off the pine tree they cut down, and it came out 84 ft.

On the big van I averaged 13 mpg on the whole trip, as much as 15 running empty.

I hit a derr on I70 with the trailer about 9pm last night, no damage to the trailer, the deer didn't do so well

I accomplished all I wanted, met some new friends, it was a good trip.
