Was just kinda wonderin' if anybody is still running heads that use the old style 13/16" plugs with the little steel gaskets :?:

I have a set of 461 casting "camel hump" heads on my SBC in the cpe.
and need to replace them.  I guess they still make those type plugs :?

I am running the same heads and I got a set of platinum plugs at Autozone. I will try to get the plug number, I know it is Bosch.
I would get the number ,but my car is in the body shop getting ready for new paint.

Hummm, not sure, but I think my 67 Charger and 61 Chrysler are still running 'old style' plugs.

Heck, my 67 may still have the originals, don't remember changing them.

I just looked up the plugs from Autozone.

AC-DELCO  R45S                   $2.00
BOSCH Platinum  #4036         $2.99
BOSCH Platinum  #7919         $1.89

I don't know the difference between the two Bosch plugs , except $1.10.
I hope this helps.

stick with the AC's.  Make sure the electrodes are straight--been having some manufacturers problems with them

The threads are the same for both the large and small plugs. The heads for the large plugs don't have a tapered seat though. A few minutes with a 45 degree reamer, and you can use the small plugs in the old heads.
Welcome to hell. Here's your accordion.

years ago , we would cut the heads as enjenjo mentions on early big block chevy aluminum heads so we could use the peanut plugs (as they were called in them daze) with the tapered sealing .

I used to swap around plugs from cars to my lawn mowers... seemed they fit

I'm still running the 45's in my '58 with a 78 350, with the double hump heads.

I broke down and bought a set of R45S  and a new set of you-put-together Accell SuperStock wires last night.  didn't really want the I-gotta-build wires, 'cuz I'm lazy   but wound up with them anyway.
maybe I'll get 'em in tonight.

My 2 FE motors have the big plugs along with the 70 302 in my 65 custom 500,the 57 235 in my 37 chevy p/u has them too but AC does not make the plus that is needed for the 235.  According to my 58 motors shop manual the 235 needs AC 44s which are not being made anymore,I can get R45s and R43s but no 44s. Since the 235 has headers and a single carb I think the 43s will work fine since the 45s were buring too hot.  Jeff
