Classic speedometer

The classic speedo in my dodge wasn't working.  I thought the guy who put the tranny together forgot to put the gears back in, so I got some speedo gears and pulled the sender off and the speedo gears were there.  I hooked it back up, unplugged and plugged back in the wires to the sender and it has worked perfectly ever since.  May be worth a try. I have no idea what I did, but I'm glad I messed with it.
