I agree on both counts.

Carps, what do you use for the walls of your diorama?

Compared to a few buddies who are really heavy into it, my stuff looks pretty lame.  Maybe if I had more time to spare, I could practice more and improve my skills.

The walls are styrene sheet, with timber look panels added.  It's a printed card material available at model railway stores/specialists.  The large scale railrod stuff is often good for use with car models.

The basic garage (walls and floor) is actually a Fujimi kit (2 joined together) however I didn't like the windows and wall/floor coverings so made it look more like my real garage.  Window sills are cut from styrene angle, same for door opening.  Joining piece in back wall is a styrene RSJ beam.

Floor is painted to replicate as best I could, old concrete, with some oil stains and other wear and tear added.  Workbench is thin steel sheet and styrene box sections.  Pink shelves
are from the Fujimi kit as is the small table (painted to simulate wood).  Gas bottles are from old AMT kit.  Tools from various old AMT/Revell kits.  Pallet under workbench is match and posickel sticks.  Box with rocker covers on shelf is more timber veneer from hobby shop.  Rusty fenders are leftover from the red coupe.  One heated and bent to simulate damage, painted then aged with rust etc to look .... old.  The really rusty one I did rust colour enamel mixed with real powdered rust and some metal paint I got from an artstore.  Once painted it was coated with a rust generator (also from the artstore).  Basically it looks and feels like a real rusty fender, because it is.

Dillard's A coupe is an old Revell kit (stocker) suitably chopped and firewall modified with scale wheelbarrow (from doll's-house furniture store) just like the real one.  Chassis is a metal TCI replica from Scale Dreams in US.  Engine was made by bashing various kits to get all the right parts.  The guy working on it must be one of Don's pals as he has the wrong harcut to be Don.

Part built engine on stand ios from old AMT Parts Pack, crank, pistons and gaskets on bench came from Pegasus Hobbies (It's near Don's place so I spent a motza there whilst visting with Don & Cindy after Bonneville) with a mountain of other stuff they don't show on their web site.

Dodged rain drops all weekend---deals on both cars I wanted fell through.  Didn't like the way one drove and the other still up in the air. garage looks empty.  so I am doing a lot of Christmas shopping and honey do things.

Well Im still in town.. I did make it back from Florida . Had a great time and the weather was peachy.. Im going to a birthday party tonite and tomorrow Sue's car needs an oil change then I may work on the roadster some more..
Ive been real busy at work and its wearing me out cause im not used to the thinking stuff.. Seems the more important you get and the more you learn the more you gotta think for some people   Got my evaluation the other day and im up 28 cents from last year.. I dont think thats gonna buy my Porsche though..  :?: I have the dash all in the roadster and wired and im having a little problem with this wiring harness that came with the car cause i cant find a horn wire anywhere  :?:  The wires are there for the steering column but no (i think it says gray wire) wire in the harness that says horn :!:
I had to make a couple special nuts for the tail lights and I made some trunk stops. Now I just need to figure out what to do with the trunk.. Latch with handle or bear claw style trunk latch with cable or power ( i have one power unit left) .. I need to get 2 headlight rings and lenses for my 29 A headlights then i can finish them..  I also need to take the windshield frame off and run it to the glass shop for glass.  The exhaust needs to be finished but im kinda saving that for last. I need to get hold of ezboy's for interior stuff too..  Bill is ahead of me and will prolly win and thats a good thing cause he is building a daily im building a toy   Next friday will determine a lot when i get my boner (bonus) from work   Actually its not a problem im just cheap :D ..  I also need to work on a top for this car too.. I have talked with Charliechops and I need to get hooked up with him sometime as he has a bob top on his roadster and i want to copy the thing prolly with soft copper tubing and im thinking about making a few as i have a connection on tubing.. The only problem with the bop top is price. It does come with the fabric and its a real top but daaaaaaaaaaaaamn . They aint cheap.. The other option is a speedway to kit and make a piece to go around the back of the cockpit just like the bop top so nothing touches the body.. I think thats easy enuff to do..  Ok enuff rambling..
So now you know where ive been and why im not here much..  Xmas is comming and im in Indiana for the indoor midget races again but both nights this year.. 28 and 29 of december.. Im also gonna be at hooters after the race and if tony stewert wins again im sure they will be there buying rounds again.. Hell Ya...........
Dave

Those are my Fav righties cookies in the world.... we call them Thumbprint cookies.

My mom always made them at Christmas time and she passed on the recipe to my wife who keeps me supplied.

It's cookie dough rolled into a ball, then you roll the ball in nuts, then you you press your thumb into the ball to flatten it... you bake... when the cookie cools - then you fill the depression you thumb made with filling... some people put jams or jelly in the hole but I will have none of that... my Mom made them with frosting.. home made frosting... YUMMMMMMM  I can eat those bad boys by the dozen...
