Hi!  The instructions say it can't be bigger than 120 x 100 pixels and has to be smaller than 8 KB.  Mine distorted at that size so I make them 80 X 80 and they seem good.  Once you have resized the picture and saved it you can upload it on your profile page and it should show up as your avatar.

There is also a Test Forum http://www.roddingroundtable.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=3 listed on the index page for this specific purpose. So we are not clogging up the main forum with posts like this. It even states that in the forum description.
