I thought I'd try something different with the interior wheelcovers on my 54 Chevy wagon.  In the past I had the speakers attached on the surface and they didn't look that good, but they worked.  I tried carpeting the covers with Foss carpet and frenched the speakers in a bit.

Looks like a lot cleaner install! A buddy of mine did something similar though he mounted his totally behind the inner fender, covered it with material and perforated the area around the speaker.I have not heard his stereo....curious as to whether the material muffles the sound as I did the same thing on the package tray of my 36....don't have a stereo installed yet to see.

Daryle,
When I set up my speakers in the '37 I had them mounted so the speaker grilles were to be used.  When Roy did the interior he decided to recess them and cover them with the upholstery material.  He perferated the material with quite a few holes but I am not satified with the sound quality.  I have been thinking of taking the car back out there sometime and have the speakers changed back.  They wont look as good but when I go somewhere it's usually a long distance and I like my tunes.
