Hi Folks!  I've got an 8" rearend from a 78 Maverick in my 32 coupe, but it doesn't have posi. Having a 383 stroker in it obviously when I hit the go pedal once in awhile it lites up bigtime, SO, I want to put a posi in it. Any ideas on #'s or what's best etc etc!!??  Thanks ahead of time!  Larry

Check into the Detroit TrueTrack limited slip on Randy's Ring and Pinion website and see if it is available for the eight-inch rear. I have one in my '32's 9-inch rear, and it is the best of both worlds--like driving a open rear end until you nail the throttle and the torque engages both rear wheels. It is perfect in light cars like ours.

ehay has had some 8 inch posis for sale but be prepared to spend some money. it would be nice to find an origional one but they are way pricey.

I see a guy on ebay ( Quick Performance) that has them at $275. They're brand new 8" 28 spline, clutch type posi ( Trac - loc). Looks like it's a shop somwhere. Anyone heard of them or know anything about Trac - loc?

A Trac-Loc is similar to a GM positraction in that it has clutches that create the limited slip function. They are a good unit and generally less expensive than a True-Track.

I recently purchased a new Auburn Gear posi via EBay...and actually saved $175 over the cheapest price I could find it online. The problem I had was I checked EBay every other day for a year and a half before one came up for an 8" Ford. I was lucky I really didn't have to have it right away. You can buy new at Jaws Gear  http://www.jawsgear.com/store/catalog/index.php?cPath=31_189_240
