Quote from: "purplepickup"I have a habit of seeing a project I just can't live without so I buy it, drive all over the country to get it, then just let it set and eventually sell it.

This IS normal, right? :D

My wife once cut out a cartoon of a guy talking to his wife while a heap sat at the curb.  The caption was "It followed me home.  Can I keep it?"  (Yeah, just like we did with doggies as a kid)

Never got a hauler just to not increase the temptation...............never worked!

Over the past couple years been doing the same as far as clearing out the old piles of "stuff" that I don't think I'll ever really use.  As mentioned above, swap meets have become somewhat of a pita so ebay and craigslist has been good to me.  I suspect as boomers age, they or their widows, will be doing a lot of this.  Could be interesting to watch what crawls out of the woodwork.

Oh....and Pops...........your thing for old headlamps is because of your affinity for a portion of a woman's anatomy.  Dirty ol' men are like that!

That's why the FIRST thing I'm getting rid of is the trailer...I don't WANT anymore free stuff.  Besides I've got two more trailers.... :|

Don's right, it's a disease....packrat-itis and here's a few pics of why I need the cure.  And pics don't even begin to show the real clutter.  Plus I have a boat and lots of other stuff stashed at a friend's barn.  I tried to take pictures for insurance purposes but gave up.

At least half of all this crap is going to someone else's barn....or in the dumpster.

And the yard is full of stuff that won't fit under a roof.

RETIREMENT is good ...  :D

I went thru the same deal ... bought a lot of neat stuff ... have three trailers and had use of a rollback ... I had a heart attack and have scaled back ... down to just two cars ... a roadster and a coupe. Being retired is having a lot more time to spent a lot less money  :)

I sold a lot of projects and neat pieces ... too help finance the coupe build ( not yet finished ...    ) but now I have time to work on it, drive the roadster and enjoy life ... at a much slower pace.

I think you will LOVE retirement ...
RETIRED.....no phone, no work and No money  :?

I'd take that big boxy purple looking thing off his hands and put it into winter storage ( ) for him down here... :D

Did someone mention a buy one get one free "garage sale"...?

Kinda reminds me of George Carlin's routine "Room for your stuff".

Purplepickuptruckguy..........WOW a large amount of stuff you have :!:

One person I know  has out pack ratted you..... my brother. ALthough he only had one storage building

He moved from Texas to AZ a few years back after retirement , I made 3 trips to TX to help him move.

When I first arrived at his house , we went to the storage buiding (10 x 12 with a 8 foot ceiling) he had in the back yard. He swung the doors open and said to me :" Where should we start?"

I looked at him and said : " We need to find the floor first"....  there was NO place to even walk in the building.

Sounds like someone wants to buy the canoe.

I built my 32 as my last car cause i just wanted to kick back and enjoy life. Sue was after me that I needed a winter project just before I had the heart attack. Now she is thinking different. If I could retire tomorrow id do it and id find something else to do but it aint gonna happen. Besides im still bored now cause  I havent been able to do much after I got out of the hospital.  Hopefully after the next doctors visit ill have a real good report thne ill think more about another project or maybe just play more with the toys I have now :D  I havent had the 32 out at all and I did ride the harley around the block last week just cause the doctor told me I could. Oh ya sue is working on me to buy a popup camper to go to the races with cause she really enjoyed out trip to winchester and we could have camped if we had the means to do it. Just what I need ?

Wow. You wouldn't want to sell me some of your space, would you? One of my buddies is thinking the same way and has been downsizing his collection. But he still has enough projects to keep him busy until he's 120.
