We are going up with the same people that go every year.
Show seem to be taking a crap. but the girle like the casino and I play remember when,as a kid I spent a lot of time on the St. marys river .
We moved to the other end of town this year and we ar staying at The Aurora borealis motel, we had no trouble moving 6 rooms ,in years past you could not even get a room.

We stayed in the Aurora Borealis for years.  It used to be $49/night.  We finally gave up going there when the prices got way high.

I used to really like going to that show, mostly because of the drive thru northern Michigan.  I could take or leave the actual show on Saturday but cruising around the upper penninsula in a rod is fun.

The cruising around town on Thursday and Friday was always crowded and there used to be lots more rods.  I was always good for a couple of laps.  It's mostly drunk kids in pickups now showing their tata's.  Hmmm, maybe that was what I used to like....being a drunk kid in a pickup looking at tata's.

Eat a Clyde's burger for me......3/4 lb burgers served by purty carhops at Clyde's Drive-In :D

I think the hotels/motels killed the show for themselves.  Prices got out of hand with a 3 day minimum.  Now it seems like lots of locals in pickup trucks.

The FREE Downriver Cruise on Fort Street this weekend will be 10 miles of cruisin, 6 lanes wide, and more cars to check out in all the parking lots then one could possible see in a couple of days.  Lots of folks that use to attend the St Iggie show from this area now stay home, save a few bucks and still have a fun filled car weekend.

Have fun Russ and update us with your thougts of the show once you get home.  I'd be curious to hear if anything has gotten better there lately.

This show is practically in my back yard (only 30 miles from here) Its nothing like it used to be, but I still go, maybe cause its so close.

The motel prices & 3 night minimums have scared alot away - but I called in February & got one night at the Days Inn, so they're starting to come around!

I'll be there in a white 39 Chevy  - Come look me up Russ :D

Buckle and me will be heading up with our wives on Friday.   Mostly for the car show but also to do other stuff, Buckle's wife's birthday, and My wedding anniversary (we stayed up at the island for our honeymoon).  Just daily drivers this time around...

Hay purp, the motel cost $140.00 now with a 20 0/0 old mans discount, but the comfort inn is bumping $190.00.
No one filled up last year, and it is the price. I liked it a lot better in years past. Last year thay didn't even have the swap meet at the big bear arena, behind the napa store.
Some one nick named the show the state police nats, one rod one cop,one rod,one cop, ect.
I will be looking for the white chevy,I will be in the black primered 46 ford

I'm sitting here Sunday morning, drinking coffee - time to reflect on St. Ignace. Downtown was full of cars, which it always is, but quite sparse as you trekked up the hill. (did see your car Russ, but both trips I made up the hill, no one was around :( ) In my opinion, I do believe there were more cars than last year, but nowhere like in years past. This show is a very good example of how motel greed has ruined a show. I go every year, but its more of a social thing, (you know meet & greet) the car show just happens to be going on.

As far as motel prices and avalibilty: I think I only seen 2 motels that were full. As I stated before, I did get 1 night at the Days Inn for under $100. Rumor has it rooms could be had for under $80, but I'm not sure where that was. I do know I'm going to shop around a little more & see what I can come up with before next year!

Hi Mike,
sorry we missed you.
Well we got home yesterday afternoon.
I think there were more cars than last year but nothing like years past.
Most of the hotels had rooms open this year, they just over priced them selfs.
A friend we hooked up with in Mackinaw city paid(no kidding)$49.00 at the super 8.
Another couple we see every year went on line and booked at the holiday inn in Iggy for$69.00,the inn keeper was hot but gave them the room.
The guys are the dumb ones, the girls went to the casino, took the bus back to the driftwood and just walked the show  back to the motel.
We love going up north, but with the prices of the motels, kids in trucks, and now the police are walking after the parade to keep the peace, but i watched them busting people for having a brew sitting in a chair in front of the motel(the guy wasn't drunk)but they don't say anything to a truck load of kids1
