Hello;
As I am in the meeting business here in Orlando, I took the time between work responsibilities to go over to the Orange County Convention Center to look at some of the cars on the Power Tour.
If any of you are framiliar with Florida, today was one of those days! Hot, Hot, Hot by noon!
I walked all around looking, saw some really nice cars but didn't find any one selling water or food! What kind of a Car event planner would even think of having an event with out drinks and food! Especially for car lovers, We like food almost as much as our cars!
Got lots of catalogues and stuff to read. I had to go back to work so I left around 1 P.M.
Wish I had a camera to snap a few pix!

Family Events took over running the Power Tour about 4 years ago and does a * poor job of it.  Your news of lack of food and drinks does not surprise me.

The past couple years we've had to bring our own refreshments.  I do miss seeing some of the gang on tour this year, maybe we'll do it next year after the 54 is road worthy.

Hello;
Don't get me wrong, the makings of a quite good event were there it just lacked a Professional event coordinatior that has a clue! I work here in Orlando for the meeting and convention business and know how an event should be run!
I do know that when you contract with some venues, the venue wants rights to be able to sell your event all the food and drinks. The Club I belong to had that problem with a hotel we used for the Rod Run. That Got better when we told them that they didn't have any concessions going when they were needed!
I do know that about 4 P.M. that place should have been a ghost town as every Saturday there is a weekly get together at Old Town which attracts all the locals here in the Central Florida Area that can have as many as 250 to 300 cars!
I've seen it happen at the various rod runs around here that Saturday afternoon the place turned to a ghost town when everyone picks up and moves to the Old Town weekly show!
Maybe next year they should have it at Old Town as more and more clubs and orgnizations are using them for car related meets and get togethers!

Caught up with them in Gainesville yesterday. Lots of cars, anyone could run the track, enough food and water.

Back in 2003, the Power Tour came through Jackson, MS and they did not line up anyone to sponsor the food, the organizers said that they would not be back. There were over 2,000 cars in attendance that day. Could have been a great opportunity for someone. We enjoyed it while it was here. I even made the video! I'm not a promoter of smoking, but my friend Rickey went to the store during the event to get some more cigerettes and asked if I wanted to come along in his '59 Corvette. When we got back and were parking the car, the film crew was there, so I'm the guy in the passenger seat in the video. They interviewed Rickey but did not use it.

A street rod is a vehicle made before 1949 that is modified with modern stuff: bigger motors; newer trans; updated suspension, front & rear; a/c.
Following is a street rod plus definition: No known definition because it changes.

Highly unlikely they will be back.  The Power Tour's MO the last few years has been to start where the last one ended and go in a different direction.  Sure would like to see it start on the east coast and head to the Northwest.  Power Tour has yet to travel in the Pacific Northwest in the 10 or so years its been going on.

Hello;
I know last year that the Power Tour had a show in Kissimmee at the Heratage Park (Kissimmee's Conv. Ctr.) Which is much smaller than the Orange County Convention Ctr. Where it was this time.
