Thanks Vance. They seem to like that shot. I really like this one. It was taken by Cory (48forvett)  This was the only time the (41)cpe didn't stop string straight and he was right on top of it getting the shot. I blew it up to 8x10 and have it hanging in my garage

Never thought that way. Been driving in Mi winters since 1960 so a little drift like that is nothing. Car was straightened out by the time I stopped

That is one cool picture. You couldn't have planned it that nice. Cool car.

I was following Sumner a couple years ago when his truck (with the teardrop in tow) had to do a stop like that.  No time to grab a camera tho.

That is a really cool picture Jack.  You'd certainly never get pics like that with a trailer queen.  Most of us RRT'ers do put the miles on our cars :D
George

phat rat

George, thought of you yesterday when I was coming home from the Coldwater swap but the rain was coming down in buckets so much of the time I figured I'd try finding you another time. I've got 2,000mi on the cpe already this year and will easily go over 10,000 as this fall I'm going to the Golden State Nats and then do the so called Iron Man run from there to the South East Nats in Tampa. Course I'll probably still be behind you in mileage for the year

How many copies of Rod and Custom did you buy??  I got my '27 on the cover of the Southwest Florida Guide Map, and I picked up like 100 copies. I'm set for life. :D  :D  :D  :D

Don

phat rat

I only got the one copy of the current issue although I must admit I've bought 2-3 extra issues of the mags  it's been featured in. When it was in the Mar issue along with the coverage of Ego-Rama I bought probably 5-6 issues as some of the grandkids wanted one for show and tell at school. Congrats on making the cover of the guide map, it's cool to see your own car in print

I was hoping for a Phat Rat sighting here in northern Michigan....But alas, that was not to be.  Thats ok Jack I do Forgive you. there's always next year. :D

Besides OBT said you were closer than him and you wouldn't have taken home the Long Distance Award anyway. :?  :?  I told him I'ld cut it in half & give you both a piece. 8)

Oh, by the way, that is my favorite picture also :!:  :!:

Mike I think it would be a real tossup who's the closest as I live only a mile inland of the big lake so it probably would come down to which of us lived furthest from the M-120/US-31 interchange. I meant to come up but with all the rain decided to go to the swap in Coldwater. Next year.

Map Quest says I live 1.67 mi further, look out Kenny next year I'll have you beat!      :P   :P   :P

Yeah, I was sitting at Denny's eating lunch one day, and picked up a copy of the Guide to have something to read while eating .  I'm looking at this cover car, and said to my self " wow, this car is done alot like mine..................IT IS MINE !!!)  They didn't ask or tell me it was being used, but I wasn't about to complain.  Big ego trip.

Your rod is really sweet. Love the color, is it a House of Colors paint? or what?  Is it purple, or just photograph that way?  I like purple myself.

When I was deciding on a color for the '27 I went to the Street Rod Nationals in Tampa, and there was a nice little '29 there painted Ferrari Fly Yellow. I started talking to the guy and complimenting him on his car, and mentioned I was trying to pick a color. I told him purple was high on my list, but that I also liked his yellow.  He said out loud to his buddies, "Purple !! When did you ever see a car in the '50's painted purple??)

I walked away a little PO'd, but not before I "advised him" of my feelings about him and his Puke Yellow '29.  (I still like that shade of yellow, but wouldn't paint my car that shade if Chip Foose offered to do it for nothing.)
