Hi,  I have a GM column shifter which i want to convert to a floor shift.  How can i get rid of the locking steering wheel mechanism? I would like to use this column!   This is in a 30 Model A .    Thanks Dave!

under the steering wheel is a lockplate. It takes some ingenuity or a special tool to remove it. Under the lock plate is a lock pin. Remove the lock pin, and throw it away. Reinstall the lock plate, it supports the Horn contact, and the turn signal canceling cam

I also hacksaw off the switch & shifter stubs, epoxy or JB weld the holes, a skim coat of bondo & paint. Cleans up the column a lot. Larry.
