This is the begining of the second night of Twisters , last night was bad south of St louis, right now there 2 on the ground north of st louis, 1 is around where Sean lives in Columbia. Sounds like another rough night. This sucks! :(

Just talked to my Daughter and heard about the twisters in St Louis. She lives just down the street from where Rt 66 Hot Rod used to be. While I was on the phone with her she stopped talking to listen to the radio for updates. I told her this was another reason for moving back to New York and the snowstorms.

Shes about 7 miles from me! RT66 moved about a mile from my house, planning on going there tommoro to see if they got the right kind of res valve for the brakes on Jrs car. If you ever come to town let me know.

Man this is some crazy weather, way too early for twisters!!  Went to work on Andy's stock car this morning, was clowdy windy but not too cold about ten minutes later thunder, lightning some rain and then the wind got really strong and the temps droped then rain turned to sleet more thunder and then snow then more rain and sleet that lasted for about a half hour then quit.  Makes ya wonder what it's really gonna do next.  Now I just heard on our fire and rescue radio that we are to get heavy snow and high winds in the morning, go figure, well at least it wont last too long, warmer times are around the corner I hope.        Bill

Some friends of mine went on vacation to Branson, MO and when they got to town a twister knocked out the power to 75% of the town (not the part they were in, but it closed down the places they were wanting to visit.
A street rod is a vehicle made before 1949 that is modified with modern stuff: bigger motors; newer trans; updated suspension, front & rear; a/c.
Following is a street rod plus definition: No known definition because it changes.

One touched down about 20 miles north of me a few hours ago. Luckily, I think all it did was tear up some siding and shingles, but it looks like another line of storms is on its way.

My mom lives in Branson.  After reading this I called her a little while ago.  When the lights went out she couldn't play solitaire anymore, so she went to bed :D .

Other than knocking the power out for a couple hours it sounds like this one didn't do too much damage.  I grew up in north St. Louis County and can remember when the tornado touched down in the city and they made Gas Light Square where that happened if I remember right or maybe it already was Gas Light Square before it hit.  I can't remember  .

Either a tornado or high wind just missed my house last night.  It went down the street in front of the house.   It destroyed two mobile homes just west of my house and parts of them are in my front yard.  One of my neighbor's home (three houses to the east) has major damage.  Minor damage to my house and yard.  We lost one big oak to the east of the house.  Damaged my daughters and future son in laws Jeep's that we parked in the circle drive in front of the house.  I will post some pictures later.  We got electricity back in the night but we are on a community well and there is more damage at that end of the street, so we do not have water.  I am leaving now to drive the bus.  After my morning run, I guess I will call the insurance agent.

I am in big trouble as just before it hit I told the wife and kids,  "Go to bed, it is not going to do anything".  I will probably pay for that statement the rest of my life.

I'll be in St Louis on the 1st of April for about 5 days visiting my Daughter and new Grand Daughter. I always try to make Rt 66 Hot Rod shop and I'll be going to Old Dog for some parts that I can't get locally.

Kinda like what we look forward to every June 1st, except the winds from our storms can last about 8 hours or more.

But at least we get a couple of days notice-you guys and gals get about 10-20 minutes warning.  That's brutal.

California even got a twister the other day up near Sacramento...wierd stuff going on these days.

I hope every one's doing okay.

"you guys and gals get about 10-20 minutes warning."

Not necessarily.  Sometimes they drop right out of the clouds before a warning can be sounded.  Fortunately they're small enough they rarely level large expanses like a hurricane.  Frankly it irritates me to hear people say "they shouldn't be allowed to build there because of ###".  Earth quakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, flooding, just about every place is subject to some form of natural disaster.

I understand about 60% of the buildings on the Kansas University campus in Lawrence were damaged last night.  My youngest son spent most of the weekend there a week ago for a jazz band event.  He was pretty amazed.

I will try to post some pictures.  One is of the front of the house with the storm door glass fractured and glass broke in the garage door along with some of the trash in the yard.  Another picture to the west of my yard with what remains of a double wide (the rest of it is on my place).  Another picture looking across my side yard to the east with part of the large oak that we will now cut down and remove.  My shop is about 150 feet behind my house.  About half way between my shop and the house there is no evidence of a storm at all.  Nothing near the shop has any damage.

We put in a hard day today.  I drove the bus morning and evening.  I went to the salvage and removed three Jeep windows and I installed two of those windows.  My wife and kids worked cleaning the yard of the mess.  We were very lucky that we did not have more damage.

I agree that it's early for this kind of weather. My wife was in Wichita for the weekend. The new charger got hailed on twice. It looks ok, though. The hail was real small. If it gets hammered, that will make evry car we've owned since 1989. I'm tired of fixing hail dents. All the newer cars' sheet metal is so thin that anything dents it.

We nothing rough here but north of St. Louis really got nailed. Last count I heard was 127 twister's in 48 hours state wide. The warm weather came with a big price!

I don't think just a "high wind" would have done that damage.  I'm glad you guys are OK.  Where I live, Blanding, UT, got written up not too long ago in a major paper or publication as one of the safest places to live (I don't know how they came to that conclusion).  Ever since the article came out in different parts of the country people have been contacting the city about work, schools, housing, etc. here  .

I have built up a whole backlog of statements like that with Julie    .
