I did pretty much what GPster said when I built my 37 Chevy truck. Your local spring shop has all the bushing parts (They're pretty generic) and greased up, they ride pretty good. By the way, that part about reversing the main leaf arch (and spring eyes) can just be done by flipping it over and beating the hell out of it with a big hammer. Or the spring shop does it with a big press.

I don't have a Caravan handy to look at how they're set up.  Do these position the springs under the frame, to the outside, or to the inside?

On a Caravan they are under the frame. the hanger brackets are adaptable, and can be monuted inside or outside if needed. The CG was mentioned, I think the CG of a Caravan will be higher than most street rods. For shocks, in the rear I use 80's Jeep Cherokee shocks, but if you have enough room, the Caravan shocks will work too.

Some cars have springs that mount outside the frame and restrict tire size, could this be a good replacement for those setups?
