92 Grand Am. Change the pulley.
Welcome to hell. Here's your accordion.

One more question, well maybe two.  What PS pump did you use?  I was thinking I would need a GM pump.  Does anyone know what year pump and model pump would work good with my '92 Grand Am R&P but use a V-belt instead of a surpentine belt?

Thanks
Bob

I used the stock 1992 Ford 5.0 Pump with the stock serpentine belt and pulley. No modificatons other then making up a pressure side hose with the correct fittings. Works fine with the G.M rack. Blind luck, I guess...

Dave...............I'm using a 85 302/AOD in my wagon, but need a front sump oil pan, and everything seems to have a rear sump. What did you use, & will it fit on the 85??

BTW picked up a R&P today, and can now see how simple a conversion it will be, as long as the drag link is in the same position as with the steering box

Thanks again
John :D

John,

The first engine I had in the 56 was a 302 from a 1978 Granada donor, and that motor had a front sump. Dropped right in and never even gave the pan a second thought. So when I swapped to the 92 5.0 H.O I found that it had a split pan of all things.  Naturally I just took the front sump pan and oil pump off the 302 and put it on the 5.0.

Then Murphy stuck his head into the secenario, fortunately BEFORE I installed the 5.0.  You know how the oil dipstick fits into a hole in the front of a 302 near the timing cover? Well, the dipstick on a 5.0 is in the side of the motor. If you put a front sump pan on a 5.0 andd then try to poke the dipstick into the hole on the side of a 5.0, THERE IS NO CORRESPONDING access hole in the pan! Makes it a real bear to check the oil level.

I think that all the 302 fords 1982 and earlier have a front sump. Should be pretty straightforward at a junkyard. The oil pump is the same for all engines, just get the matching pickup for the pan you are using. And check the dipstick,too......

Heck, you durn near owe me a pack a Molson's for all the aggravation I'm saving you. ;<)
