I just had to post this picture of the Stude all together.  John got it back from Hooley last night and put the front-end on and took some pictures.  It goes back to Hooley tomorrow and heads west in a week.

I think John and Hooley have done a great job on the car this year and it is going to look great on the salt.

HERE ARE MORE PICTURES OF THE CAR

And if you look ( HERE )  I have some pictures of the Throttle Position Sensor I've made for the car to record the throttle postion along with the air/fuel mixture during the runs.

Those spill plates make it look kinda like a Caddy from the side LOL. You guys are doing a great job.
Welcome to hell. Here's your accordion.

Crosley.In.AZ

looks good.  cant wait to see the car in person.

one item I am curious about.... there was discussion of a change to the  rear diff , looking for a gear change, a quick change diff was discussed.  It appears the car still has a 9 inch under it

What was the final drive  decision ?

We are running the same rear as last year, a 2.47.  We need about 7000 rpm for a record and 7500 would be about 250.  The new motor can easily, hopefully, run at those rpms.  Now the question is will the car run that fast -- do we have enough HP?  We seem to be up quite a bit on HP over last year, only time will tell.

We feel the weak link is the Muncie 4-speed.  Not enough money for a different tranny this year.  Next year we hope to change to a used NASCAR transmission that would be a lot stronger.  Also you can change 3rd in them to an overdrive gear, plus mess with the ratios in 1st and 2nd.  The standard 4th would then become a 1 to 1 3rd and 3rd would be the overdrive 4th.  Does that make sense??

You can change the shift linkage around so that it would shift in the conventioal "H" shift pattern.

Seems like there is someone on here that works for a tranny shop  , I wonder if they would like to sponser a transmission for us   .

I hope to have time next year to go back and refit all the body parts and smooth out all the panels.  It is amazing how much body damage the car has from the work over the winter and the trip to the salt and back.  Same guy mixed the paint everytime and I think we have 3 different colors.  The body is pretty rough but it can be fixed now that most of the changes to the body our made.  I keep telling myself that it will look fine at 200MPH

Wow! does that look different all in one colour.  It looks like it could break the record just sitting there.
Just some (silly)questions - does Hooley look through that periscope thing on the front   or just look out the side window    doesn't look like there is much windshield anymore.

Wow, that thing is insane!  I've never been to Bonneville, but to me that speaks to everything about the place.  Awesome work.

I talked to Hooley last night... We are leaving our homes at the same time Friday, and could connect on IH-40 West bound...If so We may just convoy together to Blanding... The car is really looking "Serious".  I think this year is gonna be just as smooth as last year, with maybe a record to have painted on the side....There goes John's Paint job...

LOOKS GOOD!! 8)  Sum. With all the innovations you guys have done, I'm confident that there is a new record going in the books because of a cheese wiz colored Stude. My hat's off to you.

Looking good fellas. I'm sure you know this but the time I went, I asked the old guys if you had to have a dry sump. The answer was," only if you want to run longer than 4 miles".  Good luck.

A dry sump was in the plans, but with the blower drive up front it had to be abandoned.  There has been a lot of other work on the oiling system and hopefully we will avoid last years problems.

We have our fingers crossed,

One of my friends ran his pump of the front cover behind the fuel pump. If you have room, this is a good option. it seems to fit my memory that someone makes an internal pump that has several scavage sections and one pressure stage for people with space trouble. There's also a sidemount that runs a small gilmer belt from behind the lower blower pulley. Many choices, they all add up in expense.
