Say gooday to Marika for me. I laughed out loud. I needed cheering up. Wonder who will get the last post tonight on the site at home. Is there a sniper you can use for posts like on Ebay?

I don't think anyone has said cobber or sheila for about 60 years except when attempting to talk like some mythical Australian from the distant past.

barry mckenzie was made in the early 70's and was out of date then as far as the language went.

And as we know, just cos it's in the movies, doesn't mean it's reality.

A lot of people cook prawns on the barbie - big 'uns. I marinate them in ginger, fish sauce, lemongrass, chilli, garlic and fresh coriander (that's cilantro in US).
That's all I'm tellin'. You'll have to taste it for the rest (secret ingredient).

And the burger is with egg, grilled pineapple AND beetroot if you please.

The pie is with mushy peas, potato and gravy.

Fosters drinkers = spot the tourist

Yeah Burgers should have egg too, I just take it for granted that eveyone knows that.

A pie with mashed up peas? Not bloody likely. That is what they invented Tomato suace for. If ya want peas get a pastie. then put tomato sauce on it LOL

Not to forget the humble sausage roll either.

Looks like we can agree on one thing though Fosters is tourist beer.

When I worked in San Jose it took me 4 months to convince the chef at the local sports bar I wasn't joking about wanting an egg on my burger.

I gave up on trying to get a slice of beetroot or a pineapple ring.

Foster = Australian word for cats *

Corona = Mexican word for cats *

In San Jose I used to the local "outback" restaurant for a steak every now and then. Had a standing joke with the bar manager. Whenever I walked in he would say "G'Day mate wanna Fosters" and I would say "shove it up your XXXX and give me a Newcastle Brown Ale"

Well......I THINK he knew we were both joking.........

I used to tell every new bar maid that came on shift that "Australians get too drink for free here, it helps attract customers. Trust me, it's on your website"

I would normally get 1 or 2 freebies before the manager spotted me and gave the bar maid a quick update!

Nonsense, heaps of people use those terms, except the very young or politically correct. My sisters are always up my ribs about using the "sheila" word, but (and this is lost on them) - they are sheilas!

Your bbq prawns recipe sounds delicious. I just get great big green (uncooked) Tiger prawns (~$25\kg), and put some crushed garlic on the bbq plate with the prawns, still in their shells. Other people add sweet chilli sauce while the prawns are cooking. A typical Tiger prawn will just fit inside the arc from the tip of your index finger to the tip of your thumb - not to be confused with shrimp.

The best crab I ever had were cooked in their shell with a cup of soy, a handful of chilli straight out of the garden, water and a dozen muddies (muddus crabbus). The taste permeates the meat right through the uncracked shell...drool...
