Looks like it's almost time for the much anticipated Detroit Autorama. From the looks of things already, it's going to be a not to be missed event one again. There are 40 20X20 displays scheduled to be there (the most ever) with approx 25 of these being Ridler contender hopefulls. These are fresh built cars, never seen in public or published before now.  From these 25 or so contender hopefulls, 8 will be choosen on Friday nite as the "Great Eight" finalists, with the Ridler winner being announced on Sunday evening.

It's turning out to be a huge gathering of RRT and HAMB folks and I'm getting really excited to see everyone. So after reviewing all the emails and PM's on who was coming when, I kind of figured that a early afternoon as well as an early evening Meet & Greet each day was kind of necessary for everyone to meet everyone. This is just a suggestion, so if it doesn't suit someone, please speak up and we can modify the times.

Thursday.....2pm and 6pm
Friday.........2pm and 6pm
Sat............2pm and 6pm

And so far no one seems to be going on Sunday that isn't going one of the other days as well.

Race is setting up a "lounge" area right next to VooDoo Child which will be located right as you walk in the front doors (I'll post an EXACT location in refrence to the front door on Wed nite) so that's probley a good place to meet up, or even just to stop by at any time to say "hi" and put your feet up.

In the past there has been a group of us that have gone to Lafayette Coney Island (2 blocks away) for lunch on Friday. Meet by VooDoo Child at 1pm if you want to head to lunch with us, we'll be back by 2pm for the Meet and Greet. Cobo Joes across the street is scheduled for dinner on Friday around 7pm or so and Niki's in Greektown on Saturday nite. We usually take the people mover there and the resturant is large enough that there normally isn't a wait, even on a Sat nite. For those from out of town, there is a casino in Greektown for your gambling pleasure.

With all that being said...... who's going and on what day??

George, it opens at noon on Friday but you'll need to get there by 11am at the lastest to be able to use the pass that I sent you.  You'll need to enter at the exhibtors entrance which is just down abit from the regular entrance doors.  Make sure you get your hand stamped and you can come and go as you wish without needing a pass again.

Looking forward to it.  My schedule, of course, will be the same as Daryle's and Mike's.  Just curious, about how many cars total do they have at the show?

Bob

HotRodLadyCrusr

Bob, there is usually around 700.  It's a huge indoor show, like no other I've ever attended.  Besides having the largest number of 20 x20 foot spots this year, there will be a Calvacade of Customs which is a special section of kustom cars by invite only, usually the cream of the crop drivers.  This year there is a special section by invite only with nothing but flamed cars.  The same guy, Chuck Miller, organizes both displays and they're always something to look forward to.

There will be a couple of rows of motorcycles, hopefully a few girly Sporters for Daryles viewing pleasure.  :D   There is usually a small section with low rider bikes for the kids to look at.  There's a car corral section, there some hot rod art booths there along with the usual assortment of wheel manufactures, t-shirt booths, etc.

It will take you the day and a half that you guys plan on being down there to see it all and you won't be disappointed.  I'm looking forward to finally meeting you in person.  It's going to be a fun filled hot rod weekend!

Dave, so that means I can hug you on Friday and Sunday but not on Saturday, right? :D

Seriously, don't be nervous.  The Cowtown Cruisers are a GREAT group of guys that have done this so many years I've lost count.  They always have a nice display with with constantly changing cool cars.  Your going to have LOTS of fun with them and you will have plenty of time to seek away and come say "hi".

I'll post daily photos of not only the cars but the folks there as well so don't feel left out Bill, you'll be there in spirit.

Carl,  Here's a link to a few photos of VooDoo Child.  Should be easy to spot but I'll post an exact location in reference to the front door tomorrow nite.  Really looking forward to seeing you again.
