Does anybody know if a newer GM disc brake spindle interchanges without too much work?

Sorry, nothing interchanges,I used a kit from speedway motors to put disc on mine, grab the rubber brake hoses off an 85 1/2 ton chevy truck and you are set.

You can put 68-77 midsize GM rotors and roller bearings on the stock spindles, but you don't get any suspension drop like you do with aftermarket spindles.  Caliper mounts are available for either the matching calipers or GM 'Metric' calipers that came off the next generation A & G bodies.  It does make your track 1/2"-3/4" wider on each side so you'll want to spec out your wheels after the brakes are on.  Also the caliper bracket makes the steering stop on the spindle hit sooner, increasing turn radius.  You can grind down the pad to compensate.
