Very first mock up of the frame and body with the wheels and axles.  I am learning about quarter elliptical front suspension.  I plan to add the power train to this combination later this week.

I am checking clearances on a 406 sbc for a friend . We are using a scat crank and 6" rods. I have had to machine .065" off the end of the rod that swings past the cam. These are cap screw rods . One has just over .065 clearance to the cam , I have 7 and 8 to check yet . I don't think they will be a problem as the cam lobes are mostly out of the way when the  rod journal goes past them , but have to measure to be sure . Motor will have about 11: 1 CR ,heads flow 243cfm @ .500 lift . Using a solid lifter cam 235/255 dur@ .050 , .506 lift on a 108 LSA . Hoping to see near 500 hp .Would be happy with 475 . I have not run a desktop dyno on it but with a half decent job I would guess 480+ .

Got a call yesterday from a guy who just bought the 49anglia I built many years ago . He is looking to find out more details about it . Had a good conversation . Maybe I will get to go for a ride in it some day  8)

C.K., a standard that is repeated is that twice the airflow of the heads is close to the h.p. they can produce. Depending on intake and exhaust, I think that is where your answer will be. :)

yes I know that one . Really well worked out combinations can get about 2.2 hp/cfm . That takes a good bit of intake and exhaust perfecting as well as a perfect cam choice .

If you haven't seen this before, it's pretty good for a cold day. :)

Well figured out static and dynamic CR on the 406 sbc I am building . 11.0:1 CR and 9.07:1 dynamic. Still too high for pump gas even with aluminum heads but owner is fine with octane boost so on we go.

I set up a laser to help measure some parts of an engine.  Worked for me.

A buddy came over yesterday and we reinstalled the rear window in the Corvair.  I think I posted that it had sagged down because I hadn't had the vent cowl installed and so no rubber blocks to hold it up. We sat in the heated shop and shot the sh*t for an hour or so about our lives and cars.  I'll  be happy when warm weather gets here again.

just put in the paperwork to go back to work at my old school. I was retired for 6 months! I will be teaching 2 machining classes each morning until the end of June . Kinda nice  to get back to the machine shop!

Couple more requests for transmission builds..  Streetrod stuff.  I may think about a few builds in 2025 . Not sure where I would get th e time tho?

Couple photos:  abandoned HVAC return air vent open in entry hall , then after I removed the vent and sheet rocked it closed.  Only preliminary mud work done on it. Its like bondo work on a car. Add mud. Sand. Add more mud.

Only hit 40*F here today, then windy, temp dropped

Ford says a recall on near 300k Super duty diesel trucks 2020 to 2022 is on the books.  Fuel pump problems caused by the biodiesel sitting in the pump for extended time during pandemic. LOL

Kinda interesting since the CP-4 high pressure pumps on these trucks are a known issue for a few years now. I read that Ford uses a low priced biodiesel fuel in the trucks at the factory assembly line.  Over 3k warranty items on this group of trucks was reported.

My 2021 F350 truck did not sit at the plant yard very long. 4 or 5 weeks as I recall. I do use an additive that is supposed to aid lubrication of the pump system.

I may sell the F350 this year.  Get into an older gasser truck, likely a 1 ton SRW truck or 3/4 ton HD unit.  May Sell the RV too.  Do not mention this to my wife.

Been messing with a kit that cuts , trims coax cable and install new end connector..  I was practicing on the old cable I have removed from the attic of this house.  Makes sense , right? Use old cable to learn the new tool?

Well , nothing was working , cutting correctly.  after 7 or 8 attempts, I trim the cable as needed by hand. Install a new connector on cable. Compress it so the connector is tight on the cable. The connector slides off easy.

Turns out the old cable in the house is not rg6 coax. It is smaller.  I took a 25 foot rg6 cable out of the RV , we use for campground connections... The trim tool works like a champ once I re-adjusted the cutters.

2nd item:  The drag race group in Show Low AZ.. Has been looking for another venue since the airport property sold over a year ago. Races there were very limited by the new owner.

The Show Low group found a property and been working to secure permissions, paperwork , agreements in writing for a drag strip... Guess what?  It is like 6 miles from us here in Holbrook AZ.. winning.
