Frank, I've done that more times than I care to admit.  I will look for something in the shop, tool shed, garage, basement and even her potting shed.  My wife will come to the shop and find it.  Sometimes, all she has to do is walk in, and I'll find it.  Must be some kind of power.

Yeah, Tony, she backs the car into the garage. We have a contest to see who can get it in the straightest; sometimes I do, sometimes she does. The approach to the door is at an angle, so we only have one car length to get it right.  Sometimes it takes a while to get it straight.  We back it in because it's the grocery getter and it's easier to unload with it backed in.

Road trip today to metro Phoenix.. Picked up the Simca.  What did not go wrong?

Oh well. What is a good winch?  Harbor Freight ?  My winch spit bits of teeth thru holes today.  Took 3 of us to push the Simca onto my car trailer.

Trailer brakes (electric) were grabby today while empty (aluminum trailer).. I had power turned down to 2.  Still flat spotted a near new tyre.  dammit.

I've never seen a winch do that. Maybe I've been fortunate. :)

I have been happy with my Harbor Freight winch.  The wireless remote is really nice to add.

I installed that pos winch in 1991 or so.. Nothing holds up any more.

On the flip side I do see a lot of syn type rope on winches instead of steel cable ?.  Seems like old cars have sharp edges that could damage a rope ?

I got the midplate made.  It still needs a couple more holes but the hardest part is done.  I plan to make the three bearing mount bulkheads that will go ahead of this part tomorrow.  My machinist buddy is working on those parts that need his touch.

LOL , Public Service Announcement :

We stopped for quik lunch at Burger King in Snow Flake AZ.  Meal deal : 7 dollar Pick 3.  I got the bacon cheese burger, medium fries, drink.

Photo of the tiny burger you receive.  Pepper pak for size comparo, 1 bite out of the burger.  Chicken sammitch is larger. My wife figured out the better combo already for us.  2 burger , 1 drink for me. For her: Drink , chicken sammitch, medium fries . We would share the fries.

I thought a suicide shift was a foot operated clutch on a motorcycle?  My brother did the foot clutch conversion to his Cushman scooter in the 1960s.  He would rev the shat out of the Cushman  Husky engine , pop the clutch to spin the huge tire on the Cushman scooter.

I figure you folks may know it is car auction time in Arizona.  Craigs List has exploded again with all types of old cars for sale. Nice one s to parts cars ... Most with a bit high price tag.''

It is fun to read these ads.  Photos too.

I admit a Studie wagon with the retractable roof section has my interest.  BUT: I have a Simca car to finish and get running.  Then See if the Simca will pass tech enough to make a pass on the drag strip , then sell it.

A semi complete 1960s front engine dragster chassis has my attention too.

Tony , I built a front engine dragster from an expired 60's chassis back in 92 when the rulebook had dropped all reference to a FED chassis . Had to refer to div 6 tech director to get answers before doing any chassis work . I had him sonic the whole chassis before I cut it up so I knew which tubes I could use . Moved the engine forward 9" and down 2", made the cage more upright , less of a laydown , also moved the back of chassis farther from the diff. Added 4" to wheelbase . Ended up with 172" wheelbase . That car was a blast to drive . Burnouts are just too much fun . Great bracket car as you can watch both cars' front tires cross the stripe . I won a season championship at my home track with that car in 96 with my mechanics students as my crew . Chassis was retired in 2006 as it had gone 7.02 @ 198 and would not pass the updated chassis specs .New owner was running NE1 good guys and wanted to go pro7.0 .
