I spent most of today getting the 72 F100 ready to go to Pueblo. The ac was dead. One of the hoses was loose on the interior side of the firewall. I tightend and evacuated. I had to drive it around this morning to get enough airflow to pull the freon in. :) After finishing, I checked the high side fitting and I was able to turn it an 1/8 of a turn. Is the expansion and contraction enough to cause a problem? Those bulkheads are Zirgo brand. I had the same issue with the gray 51. They don't look fabulous but bolt up ok. ????? The turn signals and hazard flashers quit at the same time. I haven't found the reason yet. I connected a bulb to the flasher output on both circuits and the bulb flashes. The tail lights and brake lights work fine. The turn signal switch passes continuity on all circuits. I will spend some time with the wiring diagram in the morning when my feeble mind is fresh. :)

I have never had O ring AC fittings loosen on their own unless the hose had been twisted when installing.
Welcome to hell. Here's your accordion.

Been a long time since I used a plasma cutter. This bicentennial Bronco will likely end up in three pieces pretty quick. Being how they are so popular I'll be working around backorders. New whole bodies are currently six months out but I hear its cheaper to buy all parts and build. Might depend on who does it and how many. Must have been a dozen Broncos go through since I been there and as you see often theres two in process. But this is my first and I don't get fancy jigs and rotos to make life easier so its getting built on the frame.

I was 16 and working at a small town Ford dealer when they got thier first Bronco...a short cab beige model that they used for a parts runner until a farmer bought it.  The first generation is the only one I really like.  I move to my present place in 2008, and a nearby farmer had one sitting in the back lot for years.  He must've sold it about two years ago, and has been replaced by a newer car of some sort.  Wonder why the need to have a vehicle sitting back there?

Have fun working on it, Matt.

I have been driving the old truck some the past couple of days.  The Holley Sniper system has performed flawlessly.  My old glitch has been the fuel pickup in the stock GM tank that does not have a sump or baffle.  I plan to add a Holly hdyramat to the pump pickup.

Frank, I had the twisted hose once. :) I have chased the signals down to some corrosion. After going through the wiring and finding nothing, I hooked the garden tractor battery to the in side of the flashers. They worked as they should. I reconnected to the truck battery and the turn signals only worked on the rear. The battery had 12.14 volts. I hooked up the battery charger and everything worked. I let it charge for a while and then started the truck. Everything is working. The battery has some age and the truck isn't driven every day. I think a smart man would get a new battery before leaving town. :)

I pick up the new 1963 Ford yard art truck tomorrow morning.  I will take photos as I cut this one up.

I have a square body truck to do but I will probably wait until fall to do it.

I cleaned the 72 up so it's as clean as it will be until the return trip from Pueblo. I don't care for "patina" but I don't care to clean vehicles anymore. :)

Bill, its still sharp as a tack from here. :)

John, I can tell you it will feel good. Better if you make samurai noises whilst hacking.

I know because I cut one today. Didja smell it? Boy it felt good.

What with me being a GM guy and all.

I got started today but things did not go as smoothly as I had hoped.  Troubles with my car trailer first thing and then other little problems got in the way.  I will hope for better times tomorrow. This is a photo of the beginning.  I like to work outside under my awning in the summer but the afternoons can be to hot to work much.  Hopefully I will have more to show tomorrow,

I returned from Pueblo. Good show, good time. Many of my friends are having some problems with aging. Most are still going. The 72 did well. Just running down the highway it will do 20mpg with ease. It drives like a crown vic with a little stiffer suspension. The show has changed in the last 5 years but I suppose that should have been expected. The year change rule and the aging of the old guard have contributed to that. Change is inevitable in life so I think it's better to adapt than get grumpy and stay home. :)
