They're also saying that the popular points/condenser replacement company (that starts with a P) isn't as good as it used to be.  I'm not mentioning the name here, as one time someone complained about that company, and the owner  would no longer sell to anyone on that site.  Geez.

I used a "P" conversion on a points dizzy decades ago on a GMC 4x4 truck we had. After a few weeks the engine would mis fire, stumble... then it was fine for days. One nite on the way home the engine was mis firing, back-firing  flames out the tail pipes.  I removed the "P" conversion parts, returned to OEM points and the truck ran fine till I sold it.

Few guys that still use points setup , I hear they look for NOS Echlin NAPA parts. Modern condensers and points are very low quality.

There was a P conversion in the 63 Galaxie when I bought it, and it worked fine for the 8 or so years I had it.  Had to look up online how to set it up when I replaced the dizzy.  The Chevy has an electronic dizzy that doesn't even have a name, and it's working fine also.

A few years back, I had to replace the battery in the Chevy, and was surprised to learn it was 18 years old.  WalMart.  I remember the day I bought it.  I was at a Steak and Shake, and the car wouldn't start. WalMart was about a block away, so I walked there to buy it.

Whew I have been through the clothes wringer, mentally. Big sigh of relief this morning. My boss and I had communication errors. Terminology confusion. I had to be ready to quit to get to the bottom of it. A transition is being made from having seperate people doing metal and fill operations, to marrying a bodyman to a job up until final primer. That suits me fine but what went wrong was I was being given the option of marriage style jobs or to pair with the painter. Since I have that experience as well. Focus was given to telling me about that option but no words suggesting that I could keep doing what I have been made it through. I wasn't taking that for granted.

So... (and this is why I hate words like bodywork, which are ambiguous)...

When I said metal work I meant that which is part of every job. We are settling into the market slot between show cars and small stuff, cranking out big full jobs in good quality. Anyway when he said metal work he meant metal specialist not doing fill and prime. Simple as that, almost.

Needless to say, I won't opt for painter work. Got that all out of my system last century. But until he said he was giving me options, I was in a dark place not understanding. Lesson to self. My zodiac tendencies just about derailed my automotive career.

Sometimes things that sound crazy are. Sometimes not. I was worried I had snuffed another thread with my dark cloud personality. Carry on. I am still sanding and will be for longer. Last sparks flew in September or so. Thats a mighty dry stretch but we had hires that bombed who I had to tidy up after. Thats why that.

Whole snafu was way too close for comfort. Metal tools are at home if that tells you anything.

I put the P conversion in my 350 Chevy distributor in my '46 Chevy in 2003. It was still in it and working great when I sold the car in 2018.

Phil, thanks. The future looks like one or two days a year I might get to touch a welder and the rest is sanding. Mudding primed new parts mercilessly is my current endeavor. One door took two days and the other took three. Hood took a solid four. On the 56 Chevy truck. Was able to use my new cushy stool for that stuff but today its back to the cab roof. For the second to last blocking. Long term sanding fatigue is still considered a myth by them who ain't done half a year of full time hand sanding.

Weather in northern AZ is still heavy snow - cold. Roads , schools closed. Storm may head east?

Installed a fresh dual pane window in the Park model tin can.  Old 37 yr old windows leak , latches broke, glass is stained.  New window is Vinyl framed window.  Not many options for proper size. Single pane window with aluminum frame or dual pane vinyl frame design. Now I need to trim out the inner wall, paint, smile , be happy.  The tin can Park Model  needs about 5 more windows replaced

I am going to try a few tank shapes and send pictures to my son to see what he likes . I have decided to do the easy method . Make a wire pattern and cover it with green tape , then peel off the tape for a pattern to cut the metal before bending it up in the brake . Looks like I will do some form of coffin tank ,or more to my liking , an 8 sided diamond tank . trying for a late 60's early 70's look . I have been given the OK for black METALFLAKE tank and fenders !

Watching a Perry Mason show from 1960... there was a 1955 Nomad on the show. Older lady driving it. Its weird seeing so many of the characters  smoking and US currency in 500 and 1,000 dollar denominations

I had to remove a steel plug from an aluminum intake manifold that had been in place many years.  I spent time yesterday trying different methods.  This morning I heated the plug and used an old candle to melt some wax into the threads.  It worked like a charm.  Sometimes old methods are the best.
