I had a Speedhut in the white 51. If the truck had been sitting for a few days, it takes around a minute to find satellites. If you go under an underpass, there's no signal and no speedo. Every thing else worked well. All of the extras that you don't think you need were useful at times. Mine was 5 years old when I sold the truck and had been trouble free during that time.

I used one for the 460/Ranger truck.  It worked great.  I had about 6000 miles on it when I sold the truck.  I bought it off Amazon for about $75.

I just looked and they now have one that has a 120 mph speedo, a tach, light for high beam and lights for turn signals.  $88

That's a really great price for almost an entire dashboard in one gauge. Heck, it's a good price for one gauge.

My son was looking at that multi gage deal for use in the chopper we started building

I also bought a cheap one off of ebay for the 72 for the odometer. I think it was around $60.

The one I bought was complete.  I mounted the antenna on the top center of the dash with double stick tape.

I'm thinking this is the way to go on the jeepster. Where is everyone putting the sensor/antenna? The jeepster being a convertible the roof doesn't add a possibility and the dashboard is questionable because of the metal divider between the two piece glass. Plus there is a metal visor that I put on to extend the roof. Also does everyone use an antenna or are there some with a different type of sensor? The S10 (S15) speedometer doesn't work (probably because the power brake unit keeps the speedometer cable from making good connection) and the printed circuit board for the instruments is faulty so the gas gauge and the instruments don't function. I've already got an after-market oil pressure, water-temp and voltage gauges. If I install a GPS and a fuel gauge I can eliminate the other mess. Just guessing. GPster

The 2 units that I have used had a magnetic base for the sensor. I laid both on the dash next to the glass. The only time they didn't work was when in an underpass.

Well, my ship came in today! I got my GPS speedometer and my new fuel level gauge from Amazon today. The speedometer is 125MPH (the Jeepster will never use all those numbers) but it also has an odometer (so I can know how far I've gone between "fill-ups") and lights for the directional signal indicator (so I won't have to rely on my hearing to tell if my directionals were on). Now if I could just find a piece of aluminum to make a dash panel to mount the gauges on. The hardware stores don' have anything that I think is suitable. My wife suggested the bottom of "restaurant duty" bake pan. Not a bad idea but I'll have to look and see how big a pan I need to get a 7"X13" piece out of. I'll have to get caught up for Thanksgiving first. GPster
