Been doing some card art for Dad and bro. I wasn't quite big enough to drive Dad's '66 BMW 550 but me and br'er used to swap 66 Tempest and 73 Laguna back and forth for a spell.

We are not an exciting family. They both bought new Citations, Dad twice. I was just showing the art. Because its bondo pics or nothing.

Sunday morning fun here. Tire repair.  Tires are 5.5 yrs old , 57k miles. They will be replaced early 2023.  Many checking cracks in them now. Not yuge cracks , just the little ones.

Old style rope seal kit was used here.  I had the kit around for about 1 year , unopened.

Screw is about 1 inch long. It was very noisy , my half deaf a** heard it easily as the car rolled slowly. Hard to say how long it had been in the tire. I had not driven the car for 3 or 4 days, wife had been gone many times in the car.

Went through a drought with my painting for a while, I got burned on a commission and that seemed to ruin my motivation. Got back in the saddle and did a couple pieces the last few weeks.

I am still causally looking at enclosed trailers on craigs list. In the 6 x 12 foot range size... Some of these units are rough, no title, no plates, rusty, tires that even in small photos look like crap. The dollar amount seems silly high to me.

There was 1 trailer last week that was priced decent.  Needed about 300 $$ of wood inside it. It sold fast.

I made a paper pattern of a diamond shaped fuel tank I saw on a bike today . Some refinements and it should make for a good pattern to bend one up . Phat46 too bad about the burn on a comissioned work . Maybe you could do a portrait of the person who burned you , with a goat!  If that is displayed with your other works it might get purchased by the poor sod .

phat46, thank you much. If some day theres time, I'll aspire to greater works. In the meantime... little exercises. You have really developed your knack, those are super nice paintings. I'm glad you bounced back because you can, and ought to... express that which interests you. Its rare but I do that. Not much else matters and when its for somebody its different. Just keep on doing.

Latest on the 99GT's simple fixes gone awry-

Belt chirp persists. Tried squirt bottle, shot water on belt and it hushed for a minute. So, that means its not a pulley or pump bearing but I guess putting the old belt back on could help me decide whether I need to attempt to straighten a water pump pulley.

Who here has had a noisy new serpentine belt, ever? Speak.

While I was spritzing the belt, actually what prompted the hood pop was yet another coolant river in parking spot. Hose to tank at rad end was bad and had spring clamp. Leaked upon burping. I trimmed and band clamped that. It didn't like how many on/offs it just went through I guess.

We're taking Thu and Fri off rather than Fri and Mon due to weather, and family holiday is Sat. That 56 cab has about an hour of you know what work left.

Friday on Wednesday.    I'll take it.

I re-organized the shop a bit, and got rid of some stuff that is no longer needed to make room for my latest project, a 67 Corvair.  I need something to work on, and the 58 Chevy is as far as I'm going to go on it.  Will probably be putting it up for sale by next spring.  The Corvair isn't a hot rod by any stretch, with its' 95hp flat six, but it's in very good condition for its' age.  Little rust, front floor pans will need metal replaced and some minor exterior body patches.  The PO stripped it and sanded it, then lost interest.  I think the small rust through areas scared him, as he was a young guy.

I wanted something small that won't take up a lot of room in my 24x40 shop, and it sits along side my X738 John Deere, giving me room to work on it.  It started out cream colored, then was painted red. I'm going with a red repaint.  That's not my shop in the picture.

Matt, I went through a noisy belt problem with the serpentine belt on my 54.  After a lot of experimenting,  a different brand of belt solved the problem.

Phil: Saw a Corvair 2 weeks ago.  Driving down the road. Must been a 1967 thru 69 model? It looked like the last design style.  The rear of the car was clean.  WHite or off white color chevy used then.

I always thought that gen of corvair was slick looking. Room for a good project.

1969 was the last year for the Corvair, and IIRC, there were only about 6000 built. They had the same body style since 65, and it's the style that I like.  A guy in MI had a 69 for sale but never got back to me.  I think he was just testing the waters to see what it is worth.
