My brother and I do handyman type work and like everyone else we are astonished at the price of lumber, we were building a set of steps from a breakwall to the beach the other day. We needed pressure treated  2 X12's for stringers, the don't have 8' ones anywhere so we were going to buy a 16' and cut it. It was $90, for one!!! Luckily we found precut six step stringers for $27 ea. We got those. Then we are going to replace a couple runners that go under a boat on a lift in a boat house and need two 20' 6 X 6's. The local yards don't carry them but can get them... for $207 each! We found a little yard, at Michigans oldest hardware store, about 30 miles away that have them in stock and "only" $149 ea. Locally 7/16" O.S.B. is $41 a sheet, what is it elsewhere?

Maybe two months ago, I paid $90 for two 6x6x8'. I don't know if they've gone up or down since.

Steel is the same way. Tubing that was $.65 a lb. is now $2.49 the same place.

My brother's new deck cost $10 a square foot for materials.

Both our sons and their families and visiting here for the next couple weeks. It's the first time we have all been together at the same time in years. And as of thursday I have a new great grandchild, a girl, 8 lbs even. That makes four now.
Welcome to hell. Here's your accordion.

Snow in June! We have one very large cottonwood tree in our yard, and this year is exceptional for the cotton.  It was very deep all along the driveway, stuck in the grass. My wife went to start cutting the grass and it was like it was snowing. She had to wear a surgical mask. I took my backpack blower and  went over the whole yard, and the wind took it to the neighbors pasture. There is still a lot in the yard, and a whole bunch still in the tree. I wish a strong wind would come and blow it away. It clogs up everything.

Frank, congratulations on the new grand child. Enjoy your time with your family.

This weekend a local dragstrip is hosting Shootout type event for local cars, the PoHo Shootout. (PoHo is the local abbreviation for our city of Port Huron)  I raffled two chances to have a painting of your car done and raised $1000 for the event. The organizer just stopped by and dropped off five wristbands and two parking passes for the event. I can set up a pop up canopy in the sponsor area right at the starting line! I am as excited as girl on prom night!😄 Gotta put a call out to some friends who might want to go.

Congrats! Hopefully the winners appreciate your talents and the masterpieces you will create for them. Enjoy the event and hopefully it brings much business your way!

Have you gotten the Demon on the rode yet? If so how do you like the throttle response? Getting ready to install one on my 36 and am curious?

I have my car running and driving, but have only put a few miles on it. The throttle response seems good although I haven't really gotten into it yet. I have a tapping noise coming from the right bank that I need to figure out. It sounds like valve train to me, or exhaust leak. I eliminated exhaust and have watched the rockers with a cut open valve cover, all seems normal, also went back through and checked preload on the lifters, which all seemed fine. I have to run it again with the cut open valve cover and at least figure which rocker the noise is coming from. Make sure you have a pressure regulator on that carb, it's suppose to have only 6 lbs max, my fuel pump was making 7.5 lbs and made it very rich.

Thanks for that tip. Good luck tracing the noise.

Yes, sounds dang kool on the paintings and the raffle results.

Out here I have been buying needed items from Amazon. 26 purchases so far.  Only 1 glitch. The seller did the ol setup the shipping tag before the item was ready.  So it was 3 days before the shipper actually received the item. Other than that , it has been amazing to buy from Amazon. I am a prime member now. I watch what I buy for "in stock" , the shipping time listed, If Amazon is the shipper - seller, etc.

Just an observation on local Chevy dealership. Their lot of new vehicles is so empty right now. I would say over 50% of the lot has no vehicles on it.

oh...  Been very hot here.  First monsoon storm last night  right on cue. It was a mild storm.  About 20 minutes.

And:  Arizona is on fire early this year...  Several wild fires are still burning. One has lost containment by about 15% in 24 hours.
