The government opened the site to get the free 4 pack of self test covid. It was to open tomorrow but now it is opened early. I just ordered mine and got a conformation number and say they will be delivery in January. Here's the site   COVIDtests.gov

Every home in the U.S. is eligible to order #4 free at-home COVID-19 tests. The tests are completely free. Orders will usually ship in 7-12 days.

Order your tests now so you have them when you need them.

Order Free At:    COVIDtests.gov

Many of the government-supplied test kits are made in China.  .....How did they get here so quickly, when everything else is tied up off-shore?  .....The government ordered them in mid-late December.    ...Maybe they were here the whole time?

We got our 4 tests in the mail.  Directions say you may need to use two tests per person for results, and they may not be accurate. You may need more testing afterwards, yada, yada, yada...

I'm all for wearing masks and getting vaxxed, but this looks like a joke.

Former co-worker I keep in touch with.. He told me his wife home test was negative.  His test was inconclusive. He was not sure when he would try the 2nd test. He spent 8 days at home with respiratory crud, cough, snot.

With the recent release of John Hopkins report on lockdowns not working well to control covid transmission and deaths, I am still not sure of what is accurate.

We never wear masks unless we have to,  we do watch how close we are to other people. I dont want some person to starting yelling at me because I am too close to them. My recent doctor office visit required my face covered.  I used the gator style face cover and it was accepted. The nurse assistant that did the prelims on me was wearing 2 masks. She has been at this office for near 2 decades.

I think there's a lot of that going around.

This week I noticed a couple main guys weren't at work. I asked another about it. One gave the other covid working on a project together. Then yesterday I noticed both their vehicles present. Quarantining themselves at work, I am told. Do what? I believe its the third covid absence for one guy. All but one person I know who has had it... was fully vaccinated. The one who wasn't has three home schooled kids and is anti.

I guess its OK to start sharing handkerchiefs again, haha. Not. I know where I won't be going to forage for bolts. ::)

Our mask mandate will be removed end of month. Almost no restrictions in place at month end .

Crosley.In.AZ

Wife and I stopped at an Ihop a few miles west of us. Its near a Walmart that was our next stop.  We sat there eating and suddenly we notice the clear plastic barriers between each booth for near 2 years had been removed.

A county in southern AZ has decided to not renew mask mandates for inside gatherings.  This county area is very liberal leaning and has fought the AZ governor who was against mask mandates. My point being that something is changing. People's thoughts, attitudes, worries towards the virus, towards the mandates?

I read an interview a few months ago that was with the head of infectious diseases at a large university in the eastern half of the USA. That doctor was asked to predict the future of the pandemic. They replied that people would be so tired of all the restrictions that they would just go on about life. That is what I'm seeing. The omicron rise has almost ended where I live. Kansas went sky high but it is receding almost as fast as it spread.

Learning a lot about covid policies lately from insurance and medical personnel.

A very credible source explained that many labs which process covid test swabs use "pool testing."  ....A group of 10-20 swabs are processed together.  ....If any one of the swabs tests positive, that whole group is notified of a positive result.  ...That whole group is counted as being covid positive, thus artificially inflating the case count.   ....This could explain why so many "positive" cases are/were asymptomatic.

If you receive notification of a positive result, you will either re-test, quarantine, develop symptoms, or remain asymptomatic.  ....How many days were lost from work due to unnecessary quarantines?

Each time a person tests positive, that is considered a new case.  ....If the same person tests positive 3 times, that is considered 3 new cases, even if asymptomatic.

I have heard & read about the items you mention. It's one of the reasons I do not believe the numbers as given for test results or case numbers. I also wonder about death numbers from covid. Was there any "pool testing" done there? It runs the numbers up for covid deaths falsely.

We have friends of friends that are in the medical field. I know hospitals have some very sick people with covid.  ???  I know the hospitals are crowded.

The case in Florida on a guy that died in a motorcycle crash. One gov official was saying he tested positive for covid?  Was it Pool testing? Then the gov official supposedly wondered out loud if the covid was a factor in the death of the bike rider?

My brother's experience with covid testing, when he was told 150 to 199 dollars for a test. His daughter told me the test places are paid the same by the government and some companies  bill the patient for another 150 to 200 dollars that increases their profit.

I respect everyones opinion and I encourage an open discussion.  I like to hear opposing points of view.  I am not beyond changing my opinions.  Whenever I hear something that seems to contradict what I believe to be true, I try to do a little poking around.  I found this among other information on Project Veritas.  .https://aftmichigan.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/what-is-project-veritas12.pdf.  It would seem that they are not as unbiased as they say, but a person would also need to study the groups that are making these opposing claims.

I live in a small town in a mostly rural area, but 15 miles north of me is a town of about 50,000 with two large hospitals.  The hospitals are very open with numbers of patients in their hospitals with the virus.  I have more confidence in information that is local.   Since the vaccines have became available, I have been particularly interested in the relationship of vaccinated people to unvaccinated that are patients.  Overwhelmingly the patients in the hospital are the unvaccinated ones and they are the group that almost all of the deaths from the virus come from.  I have not heard of anyone that has been hospitalized because of a reaction to the vaccine but it is possible.  I suppose that it is also possible that these local hospitals could be inflating the numbers or altering them to reflect more patients but I would wonder why.   'And I think there would be a whistle blower come out of the woodwork and make this information public, if they were misleading us locally.

I can understand that in some cases, the number of people with a positive test, could be inflated.   I also know from personal experience that there are a lot of people, who probably had the virus, but never went for a test or for medical help.  So, maybe it all averages out.

During my graduate studies, at the University, I had a professor who taught research.  Although it mostly had to do with Automotive and Industrial applications and teaching, the information he taught is applicable to most subjects.  He explained the characteristics of good and bad research.  Since having him as a teacher I have tried to look deeper into who his making claims based on a groups of facts, the validity of the facts, and the method of the research.  I look at the background of the person or group and look for their motivation.  Usually, when you find someone making statements that are contrary to good common sense, you will find a reason or a motivation for their disinformation or manipulation of the facts.

John...  I think the watchdog groups need watching as much as the groups they claim to watch.

I find it interesting that many states are allowing the mask mandates to expire.  A few states will now release virus numbers weekly instead of daily.  I guess that can change back to daily reports if need be?

Altho I admit I do it , yet it is sad that I do:  I read most items in the news with the mindset "what is their agenda? What angle are they putting on this article?"
