460 Ford water pump gasket

This Ford stuff is making me crazier.

I can not find a water pump gasket that fits the aluminium water pump that came on my 460.  The Fel Pro 35044 that is in everyones parts books does not fit my pump.  My pump looks like an aftermarket pump but there is no name or numbers on it anywhere.  I will try to add a couple of photos.  One of the pump and one of the pump with the fel pro gasket in place where you can see where it does not fit.  The bolt holes align but the gasket leaves some areas not sealed.

The 460 was used in pickup tucks and cars. It spans from the early 70's to the late 90's. The last gen has a serpentine belt drive. Could it be that there is a reverse rotation pump involved in the equation?

I might have found it.  It is listed to fit a 460 in a Ford  F 250.  Fel Pro 35 380

Edit,  Thats not it either but I am getting closer.  I just noticed that this one is the right shape but it is missing
2 bolt holes.  I am going to get one tomorrow and see how it fits.  I can punch out the other holes.  

In the mean time, I will surf the net some more.

It may be quicker and easier to make your own gasket.

My buddy ran into torque converter problems with his 460, seamed like the Mid 70's TBird engine that he had was different from the rest.
If you want a Ford engine you have to be willing to work for them.   :)
You never have time to do it right the first time but you always have time to do it again.

Made a decision.  Pumps are cheap.  This ones is going in the recycle pile.  I only liked it because it was aluminium.  I am buying a new pump that comes with a gasket.    :D  

As a side note I got the title for the Ranger truck today.  I can now speed up on this project.

I think I have the engine about where it will be mounted.  I will do a little adjusting as needed.  I need to look at some alternative exhaust manifolds.  I can make the left one work but I do not like it.   The right one is going to be really tough.  The tuck did not settle as much as I thought it would with the additional weight but I know it will drop down more later.

I got into a 302 water pump and had the same problem. So many variations for it too.
