In Kansas we have the Real id drivers lic. I took my birth cert. and s.s. card and something else, proving your residence. to get it. No waiting for that. They are mailed from the state office in a couple of days. I need to get a passport "just in case" I find some where I want to go. :)

Quote from: "sirstude"Headed to the post office in a couple of hours to get my first time passport.  Montana's current drivers license won't work after the first of the year for airplanes.  We have a new special license with "Real ID" that can be purchased but the waiting list to apply for a new or renewal license of any type is about 3 months and the passport was 2 days.

I thought that didn't go into effect till Oct. 2020, that's what they said on the news here. In Michigan we are able to get what is known as an Enhanced License, we are on the border with Canada and are able to travel there with that license. Otherwise you need a regular license and a passport. Even though the Enhanced license will allow travel to a foreign country it will not allow you to fly domestically next year.

this happened at Petrolicious ..  some people ask him to start and rev it up..

if you look closely you can see the art behind the car on the left and then then the same art blown off the wall on the right.

there is a funny story about that visit.

the car had just been painted and detailed..  they dropped the car off about 630 and went to dinner.  came back about 830 and found the doors open. lines of people climbing in and out... a woman balanced up in the rear wing.. people leaning against the aluminum panels..

they were ignoring the 2005 GT40.. the bugatti verion.. and several other really expensive cars ..

i found out last night that when the wood mockup was first shown to Balboni.. the test driver for lambo..  he had arrived hours late..  everybody had left... a security guard let him in  but had not seen the car before.   his reaction was to say Contacc..  or something similar..  it an italian dielect  it was a slur or slang for WOW..  the test driver ask the guard what he had said as he had never heard that word before so the NAME COUNTACH was born..   it still has the same reaction where ever it goes..

there is NOTHING CHEAP on that car..

that part that broke.. not including the actual throw out bearing i think was $8,000.00   i got 3 made up for 1,400 bucks including a really neat will call to mcmaster carr..

i have been blowing thru piles of $100.00 bills. putting it all back together..

the only thing .. the owner knows it's going to work even better than it did when i finish it.

it ran perfectly for 2 years without me needing to touch it before the clutch broke..  and the clutch has been a problem since it was replaced 9 years ago at a proper lambo shop.  it never worked right ..  but it took them 9 months to do it.. i have had it apart for 7 months..  but i could not find parts ..  for less than crazy amounts..  flywheel, disc, cover was like 15K . not including the broken part that nobody had..  i did find a clutch disc in england for it..  the cover was good.. the flywheel was cupped..  cupped so much that when the flywheel grinder touched down.. it hit the outside of the cover mounting surface before it touched the friction surface. and it has a .008 to  0.010 positive step.. i never did find the factory step height..  i did get people offering to sell me a $4,000 manual that might have that info..  but then it would be in italian and no guarantee that the info is in there..

heck.. i had my own clutch and brake riveting press in the 80s.. a friend let me use his flywheel grinder and his set up table..

check my reply to idrivejunk..

I started work on the fan shroud for the 460/Ranger project.  The first step was to cut a foam block a little smaller than the final size off the shroud, but deeper than the final size.  It will be trimmed to the final depth size after all the fiberglass work is done.  The foam I use is not effected by the fiberglass resin.  Next I cut pieces of flat fiberglass sheet and glued them to foam with a special Gorilla Glue caulk used to glue foam to fiberglass.  After the glue cured, I rounded the corners.  Next I will fiberglass all of areas where the pieces intersect.  When that dries I will remove the foam and fiberglass the same areas on the inside. I will post another photo or two in the future as this project progresses.

Installed stiffeners for the body in my 55 wagon so I can cut out the floor and install a new one. Looked at putting in half floors but I see a lot of patching needed on the supports so I will am decided to go with a full floor that includes all the supports and inner rockers.

Did he put the body back on the frame to weld it in or just put the floor in place and weld it in? I have seen it both ways but I don't see the need to put the floor on the frame to put it in.

If you have the body straight, and well braced, there is no need to have the frame in the way too.

I have just finished a long term build on a '57 Chevy Handyman wagon. I went w/the half floors because my floor braces were in good shape & only needed a few patches on the inner rockers. After removing & rewelding a few hundred spot welds the difference in $ between the half floors & full floor w/ braces disappeared. If I had to do the job again I would go w/the one piece floor.

Couple parts kits arrived. Serpetine belt kit for the 2013 Civic car. Belt, tensioner , idler pulley..

Engine has a weird thumping noise when cold. As It warms up , then quiets down - gone.  near as I can tell , It is something with the Serp belt and tensioner. 97k miles on the car.  The current  serp belt is 19 months olde. That belt will go into the trunk as a spare.

2nd: couple parts arrived for my car trailer. Slowly getting the trailer back on it's feet for operation...

Thursday evening , friday morning:  very windy and lots of rain again.  Everything is wet n soaked!  Many roads in northern AZ have been closed from snow and ice..
