I went looking for a shiny assembled chassis but all I found was this-

Satin finish paint?

Low gloss clear. Like whats used for lots of bikes now.

I painted a steering column last week. I wanted it satin finish to match the dash. I used this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XR7LYCG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and it did a very nice job. Just don't apply it too thick like a lot of people do. Light coats and it flows out nice.

What we get comes in a 2 quart kit, I think. PPG and the fancy box has hot rods on it. One of the guys collects the boxes.    I'll see about a pic but probably way steep for hobby work. Unless you want that quality.

Here is an example of some low gloss stuff on a trike-

We're painting the rear fairing or whatever its called. Curious how the refinish stuff compares. I only follow up on this because I do think gloss level is a neat option in some places and the nowadays 2K stuff has nowhere near the drawbacks of old school single stage with flattener.

Imagine the Model A with reduced gloss beads down the side, for example. Not a stripe but then again sort of like a molding maybe, as far as looks. Just a coat or two of satin clear painted like a stripe over done paint. Hmm is all.

Dog gone it, newest guy is doing the roof.

Yes thats the two faced really ugly beautiful Olds in back. It came to the front. Stinks.

Hmmm, low gloss just over a portion of the vehicle. That would be very interesting. To me these low gloss finishes look very sleek and high end, weirdly an opposite effect to flats even though it's between flat and a high gloss.

Its as though shine is a necessity. Thats never been true. Using contrasting gloss levels is not unlike just two different colors. Color was never necessary either. What if shine was what people disliked? It would make more sense. There are glare scenarios which create unsafe driving conditions. Just random IDJ banter as thought fodder. :)

See the traffic control device? No? Just stare ino the sun until your eyes burst into flames. 8)

Woops posted to wrong thread but think I have it fixed.

Final sanding is being carefully done around the car by the painter and he does not appear to be having much trouble with it. We knew the right front door gap needed more attention and it got it. He will be cursing me / us when he starts on door jambs. For sure. :)

So hey Ford men, is this a 289 or something?

I just saw it looking sad there and wondered if it has anything to do with this storyline-

I know, I know... but that one IS too far gone to use anything but the #s.
