Prime tape and insulate

No longer functioning louvers.

My idea to use 8" Flex Tape to cover over louvers. Do hope the hype of the sticky adhesive is accurate.

The Peel n Seal insulation just for grins. Now on to the body work.

Heh, heh, a friend sent me some decals of something quite nostalgic for me.

This decal has been on my Hot Rod Model A Coupe since 1965 and is still on it now with my nephew.

I am so thankful to Jerry for being able to do this for me.

Some pics of my coupe thru the years with the decal

Added some double sided tape to standoffs. Giving some support for exterior sheetmetal after reinstalling backside of lid.

Reinstalling the backside of lid. A whole lotta work bringing exterior louvered skin into fitting the unaltered backside. But Roger/tvicky with many clamps prevailed and managed to get things to fit.

Some sanding and new coat of primer. A whole lot stiffer lid now with backside tacked into place.

What will you do with any water that gets in there?

Trunk lid comes from the factory with drain holes on the bottom edges.

Besides it doesn't rain in Kansas anyway.

Black or black with pinstriping?

Well there is some 'consternation' on that idea right now.

The car has a factory applied pinstripe all around the perimeter beltline.

Kinda shows up on the sides in this pic. The faint remnants of the stripe are still on the trunk lid just don't show up in the pic.

But, I'm kinda into just straight black, but don't want to go around and try to remove the factory stripe.

So I'm just muddling about it. I also know 'old school' should have a decorative stripe on the lid, just wait and see I guess.

Heh, heh, have I ever posted this pic here?

My first car.

I've always had a little something different at various times.

Working the body work

Sure does wear me out watching Roger/tvicky do all the work.

Got the inside primed.

Got the outside primed again, someday we are gonna get done.

Does he charge extra when you watch? :) The paper article is neat. I have one from 1978 with an article on my 1st top fuel car. It wasn't as well written as the Wichita article. :)
