It warmed up enough this afternoon at O&S that I shot chassis black on the rear end. This is for rust prevention. It's a good thing this is covered by the bed. :)

That would be correct! I spent some time working on the 32 and the 51. The weather turned back into winter for a few days. I need to clean the shop because next on the list is painting the bed. It may be a few more weeks before it warms up enough to get serious with that.

be interesting when the bed goes back on. The whole pack age  together.  Get er in the street and leave a few piles of rubber material on the road.

The time you spent cypherin on the install , building , painting..  I would had built 1 crossmember, twice.

When the truck goes back together....  is the rear bumper gonna be basic step bumper or other ideas?  Or maybe a Mustang left over rear bumper?

Tony, the rear will be a collage of parts. The truck came with a traditional rear step bumper from farm country. Read that as very ugly. I wanted the trailer hitch portion and additional protection for the fuel tank. I have the 34" from the center of that bumper left. I'm planning on building a roll pan for each side to finish it out. If it looks bad, I'll get a new plan. The ten day forecast looks like it could warm up enough for progress to begin in two weeks. The location of the fuel filler is going to present as big a problem as anything left. :)

I got far enough ahead on yard work to do something to the truck. The tail pipes used to go over the rear axle. Now they needed to go under. The pics are of the hanger, and where they are under the truck.

Great pipes.  Where is the bed?

Tony, will this work? :)
The bed is on to align and figure out the fuel filler placement. The rear bumper and other parts will be finished before I remove it for painting.

KB, I bet that truck will be a bit of an odd sensation to drive because it will not ride like what it was, but like a car. Smoooth, with a whole lot of o's. :)

The bed is bolted down with one shim in the front. Nothing is lining up. I'm prepared to get educated on this deal. :) Someone mentioned burnouts. LOL

You need to "Donk" that truck out...  22 inch wheels.

On a serious note:  good to see you making progress.  );b(

There isn't adequate tire clearance on the bed. There is a rib that I failed to measure that will be too close during suspension travel with any body lean. I ordered spacers. :) When the bullitt wheels were on, I ran it outside. By measuring from the bottom of the bed and cab, it sits level. The front wheel opening is 2" higher than the rear. Combined with the hump in the hood, it looks like the rear is low. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about that, I worked on the right side of the bed where it had been hit. I removed the caulk that had split and found an area that the spot welds were pulled loose. Just a little more work. One of my friends commented about the ground clearance on the end of the tail pipes. To avoid any problems, I removed 1.5". The pic is in my drive which has a sharp angle with the short tires on. If they touch now, it should be because a tire is flat. :)
