It seems most appropriate for the yard truck to have a rubber floor mat. Here it is, waiting for a hot day to make it wrinkle free. :)

Lots of smaller items finished today. Speaker mounts fabbed and installed. All 4 speakers are behind the seat. The original seat belts got a bath and installed. Defrost hoses shortened and adapted to the original registers. Simple covers made to keep items from falling into the defrost vents until some original vents can be found at a reasonable price. Simple cover made to cover wiring going up the firewall. Sunvisors washed and installed.

That interior pops, I like contrast. Nothing like a good mat either. :)

Today I installed a rectangle vent under the dash for ac and heat. I took a pic but it was too dark to see a black part. It now has headlights and turn lights on the front. The hood trim is on. The new clips were smaller than the originals. I'm going to contact the supplier to see if they have some insight into that issue. It caused some grief to install. :) I drove it down the alley a couple of times and didn't have to walk home. :) It's back outside for a while.

The cab cart has been turned into the bed cart. :) It was warm enough this afternoon to work in the shop.

It warmed up enough today to address a few things. 1st item was a leak on the ac. I could see traces of oil on one of the hose ends at the crimp. I removed the hose and recrimped it with my tool. I only put one can of freon in. I'll wait a month or so and see if it has stayed up. I installed a center seat belt so the grandchild can be strapped in. The original was toast. I've done enough measuring to know how many parts will have to be moved to install the tbird rear that I picked up a week ago. That's next on the list. :)

I removed the hubs and uprights from the irs rear this afternoon. One came off easily and the other side required a puller and some time. After that, I pulled the air box of the 72. It is somewhat warped making the seal on the filter suspect. After some research, I found a paper element that had a spigot that would fit into the neck of the airbox. I'll fab up a bracket and be in business.

I went to visit the press and removed the hubs. I realize that the wheel bearings need replaced also. I need to make a fixture to support the alum housing before pressing the bearings. Every bearing and seal will be new when it's completed. I worked on the mill some today mounting the control panel for the dro. I have one scale mounted and am researching ideas for mounting the reader.

I have to get a DRO for my mill some day . I don't use it yet so no rush . I can remember working as a machinist before we had DRO on the mills . the last machine shop I worked for had DRO on the lathes as well . The truck you are building is going to end up being too nice to use !

Here at O&S, I enjoyed another lovely afternoon for the 1st of February. I didn't get as much finished as I wanted but that's my fault. I have the irs rear hubs drilled for 4.5" bolt pattern. The pics show the setup in the mill and the double bolt pattern. I blasted the rear end some. It's not great but it's clean enough to work on and spray some of the black chassis coating on it after rebuilding. :) I wanted to wash vehicles but ran out of energy. :)

It's warmed up a little so I could do some work. I made a support out of .250 wall 4" square tube to hold the steering knuckle while pressing the wheel bearings out. The new bearings are in, wheel cylinders, adjusters, springs and studs. These parts are ready for assembly.

At O&S, the center section was removed and disassembled. There wasn't any surprises. :) I removed the rubber mounts for the carriage that the bolts were rusted in. After rebuilding the center section, I'm going to cut off the front two mounts and relocate them. I have something of a plan for mounts. There needs to be more measuring before it goes any further.
