I shared the original link with my club members and got this reply from one of our members that lives in Oklahoma:

You really need to know the part number of what you want or have the old box so that the new age counter help can cross it over in the computer.

Example:

I go to the local Ford dealership and ask for a stock 9" clutch disk for my '36 V-8 Ford.  I give him the 68A-*** part number.
He says "Where's the rest of the number?"
I say "That is all of it."
He says "That's not enough numbers. Needs more numbers and letters"
I say "Put it in your computer."
He says "Hey man, it comes out as a Ford New Holland tractor clutch."
I say "OK; order it."
So I get the clutch I need in a Ford New Holland box and it's just fine.
Without the P/N I could not have gotten the part.

However, I have gotten some really good help from the local NAPA guys ( about my age ) with parts for old cars.
Waiting to try them on TRW K348N king pin kit for the old Ford axle!
Victor big bore V-8 flathead Ford head gaskets?  No way without the P/N.

I really do not like getting anything from any big box store,I usually look up the part number before I go in a discount parts store and when I went on AZ website last night to look up a timing chain cover for a 70s sbf I got them for every motor except for what I was looking for.
