Do you realize both the small block Chevy, and the Ford Windsor have both been out of production for over 20 years outside of replacement parts? And it's been 30 years since they came with flat tappet cams, or a carburetor?

That means we are the old guys with outdated equipment in our hot rods . That must mean we are the new "traditional " hot rodders . I thought I was updating my T with a modern driveline , I guess I should re-think that statement.

I'd love to have FI on both my 58/350 and 63/390, but it ain't gonna happen. It costs too much for me to convert.

I was following a truck today and just had to pass, as I was getting gassed out behind him. I can imagine people following my cars feel the same.

My factory throttle body fuel injection system in my 54 Chevy has been out of production 26 years.  It was old technology when I started building the car 15 years ago and now it is really old.  The basic system was used in pickups for a few more years after they stopped using it in cars.  So far parts are available.

If you want to feel a little older, the first 4.6 Ford mod was in a 1991 Lincoln. The ls series debuted in 1996. How about the 5.7 hemi that debuted in 2003. :) The 99 explorer engine in the 32 is eec iv from a 1989 Mustang and the 4.6 in the 51 is eec v from the 96 Mustang. The setup I'm using in the new project is eec iv but it's speed density instead of mass air. The only thing older than this stuff is me. :)

Check out all the new cars with timed direct injection.

I believe the small block chevy with a distributor was produced into the early 2000's ...  I've heard the vans had them till 2000

We had a Mexico spec pickup in the shop a few yrs back.  A 2000 Silverado , i was surprised to see a 5.7 engine with a dizzy under the hood.  All of it was OEM

I have been told the same thing. I have yet to see one. Every one I have looked at has a LS in it. Most of the UPS trucks here have LS3s in them, with the older ones having BT6 Cummins or Isuzu diesels.

May be the export stuff.  We USA folks tend to be narrow minded.

The thm350-C trans continued on in export use for several years after it was dropped in the USA market.  Most folks beleive that 1986 model year , early 1987 was the last of the thm350-C trans
