Charlie Chops 1940

Back in '59 my high school pal's brother bought a triple black '59 Bonneville convertible. It was a gorgeous car that he got to borrow once in awhile. Back seat was huge and comfy.

Another over the top restoration at your place of work!
A good friend will come and bail you out of jail...but, a true friend will be sitting next to you saying. "Wow...that was fun!"

Thanks on behalf of the crew and myself. 8)  They had to be absolutely stunning brand new, particularly the one you describe. And silky smooth. And expensive! (But probably less than a decked out Impala)

I noticed that even in the GM literature for hardtops, rear seat passengers' heads are beneath the rear window. I will be interested to see where that ends up with the floor modifications. I hear tell that this car has rear A/C as well. Don't know if that means two evap cores or what.  :?  But heck yeah, and again thank you much. :)

Saw these grille area pieces today, painted. The grey on the grille shell matches the frame.

They chose shiny black for the bezels-

Thanks, on behalf of the crew. Its a tall drink of water, yep. I gave it a little boost in the assembly department via digital treachery-

I am almost ready to suggest making sheetmetal bumpers with tube reinforcements. So somebody could plate fresh made top halves.

Beautiful. As I was looking at it, I was thinking the front section from a '59 Chevy bumper might follow the lines of the hood since it peaks in the center. But that's just me. It's very nice as is.

No offence Matt but that plain bumper needs something in the center and a little more volume to match the car. What does the original one look like? Or a post number that it is on.
You never have time to do it right the first time but you always have time to do it again.

Woops, missed those replies, thanks guys.

The one on this page with bumpers is edited, I put an approximation of bumpers on it with my PC. Lower section of the bumpers are to be shiny painted but whether black or grey is up in the air. HL bezels looked best shiny black so thats the plan for those. Mike originally wanted to invert the front bumper. I told boss I can make an easily plated sheetmetal bumper or even make a metal top half face bar and fiberglass or metal valance off of them, along with rebars. If it came to that. Plater is really pulling their hair out over a persistent front bumper scratch, its been chromed like 3 times and they are beyond upside down on it but the plater has made it a matter of personal challenge and vows to produce this one and never tackle another. So who knows what'll boil to the top.

I know the grille mesh used looks pretty nice. 67 GTO-ish.  :)
