I'm curious--do you treat the under panel that showed surface rust before your weld on the new panel?

I sanded and wire brushed, cleaned with SX330 and applied two coats of Eastwood rust encapsulator. The pic is after cleaning.

Good to know your process for taking care of that. Thanks.

Quote from: "kb426"Nice panel. :)

Thank you sir. Still mud ahoy but better than it would have been.

Its a bare minimal approach. Within the timeframe there was only room for one product and well... thats about the amount of clean rust that encapulator works good on. Acid scrubbing and epoxy would have been overkill there.

Now these first two pics are strictly for educational purposes. :)

The rest are about exceptionally dramatic fins and trunk gaps and overspray on my masterpiece.

It's easy to forget how large that car is. :) That would need about double the primer and paint that one of my truck projects would. Insert noise of calculator whirring here. :)

I keep fantasizing about stainless roof a'la 58 ElDorado. Honestly, carbon fiber crossed my mind as well but didn't stick.

The car has heap big potential as a flake boat, seriously. Thats the beauty of being a custom kind of bodyman, you get to deplete the budget to a point where the customer only has enough money left for a solid color.  Thats how I keep flaky thoughts away. Flakes are for cereal.

Pearls, now... well thats another matter entirely. :D  Needs blue mica like a hog needs slop.

I actually thought about the fleetside T today. You just never know what I'll feel like doing, when.

I used to have a pic of a T pickup which looked as though it may have been made from a Tudor sedan. It looked great.
